Kilome is a great prospect. I also like Peterson and some of the other new pitchers. I honestly don't think Stroman is too much of a loss. Syndergaard is a bigger loss.

Stroman himself no, but trading SWR for 11 stroman starts really pisses me off.  I’m usually 100% for the players here but Stroman waiting until he got his service time and opting out a day before he comes off the IL is not a good look.  I have no problem with his opting out, I get that, but he made sure it wouldn’t affect him negatively before he did it.

16-2 Nationals against the Mets!

Good news: The SNY broadcast is hilarious. They're playing some classical music while Keith reads about the 69 Miracle Mets. More good news: Guillermo might be a viable closer!

And the Mets get a home run!

They're gonna win!

McNeil will be fine, although I don’t think Mike Baxter ever played again after a similar play to save Santana’s no hitter.

Mets sweep a double header from the Yankees for the first time in team history and do it in walk off fashion on the road and Cohen reportedly won the bidding for the team.  Best day for the Mets in the last 4 years easy.

Yea, it seems that way, the arod/jlo group sent out a message saying they were upset and they thought the bid was solid and that they wish the Wilpons and the organization well.  Supposedly cohens bid was the highest and he’s entered into an exclusive arrangement to determine final price and it should be over in a few days.

Oh wasn’t all good news today though, Gsellman starts tomorrow  :-\

Replacing Brodie hopefully

I don't know how you turn a franchise around, but it probably starts with hiring a real GM.

Brodie might have been a good GM with some oversight. But the guy just wrecked the New York Mess with bad trades and sweetheart deals for his ex-clients.

The Mets can probably be competitive with minor tweaks and good luck with health of their current roster

No clue what their farm system looks like so can't say how long they can sustain being competitive

Still would also fire Brodie just cause he seems like a douche

Also, Braves traded for Tommy Millone, an ok middle to end of the rotation starter, for two ptb (not on the 40 man roster so likely nobodies) which was necessary given the absurd crap we've gone through this year(Soroka out, Felix opting out, Folty and Newk sent down due to ineffectiveness, Kyle Wright and Touki being too inconsistent to be relied upon, etc etc ad infinitum)

If Ian Anderson keeps up what he did in his first start, Fried stays healthy, Millone stays dependable, and Cole Hamels making progress back (he threw his 2nd bullpen of his rehab today), we might be able to cobble together a rotation for a potential postseason series

Tommy Milone has played for both the Mets and nats, he’s something of a known quantity to the NL east.  I think it’s much more likely that he flounders than succeeds, but I get why the Braves made the move, he’s been solid this year and the Braves rotation has very much not been.

I just checked out his stats, he’s 2-1 against the nats, 2-0 against the Mets, 1-0 against the marlins but a 5.91 era, 0-0 against the phils with 0.00 era in 3 games.  The AL east feasts on him though.  Not sure how many inter league games the Braves have remaining but hopefully he won’t be starting any of those.

The Mets can probably be competitive with minor tweaks and good luck with health of their current roster

No clue what their farm system looks like so can't say how long they can sustain being competitive

This Mets offense has been at or near the top in most offensive categories this year, they just can’t score runs for some reason.  All positions are in the NL;

AVG: 2nd
OBP: 1st
SLG: 6th
OPS: 4th
BB: 5th
SO: 11th

But runs scored, 10th.

It just makes no sense.

It makes no sense with the rest of the Mets offensive numbers.  Put a runner at 2nd and the Mets forget how to hit.

Sloppy series against KC, but I’ll take two out of three against anyone.

The best thing I can say about Brodie is he only traded away one prospect.

Got a lot of detritus in exchange. But at least Todd Frazier is a third baseman who's going to play third base.

I’m guessing jd davis is hurt if they felt the need to acquire a corner infielder.  Really not looking forward to watching Frazier strike out and hit .230 again.  Chirinos makes some sense as the Mets have not gotten any production out of the catchers this year.  Hopefully realmuto is a Met next season.

Honestly there's no way Cohen would be able to have an impact this season with all the intricacies of such a huge business transaction. November sounds right and will let him start to reshape the team over the offseason.

Seaver was one of those guys still pitching well into his 40s when I was a kid. Just a marvel to see someone still excel at the age when most others flame out in their early 30s. He looked like an old gym coach out there hurling the ball. I think his last season was with that famous 86 Red Sox team where Bill Buckner booted the ball in the WS.

Angel Hernandez still affecting meaningful games in 2020. The guy should've been out of the league 15 years ago. How is it possible someone can be bad for so long and have a job?

Anyways, here's the Indians walk-off homer run call from last night. They are back in the playoffs.

Brodie Van Wagenen deserves a chance to redeem himself. But there needs to be oversight. He's proven adept at giving sweetheart deals to ex-clients and trading away prospects for garbage.
