That's what Zuckerberg deserves for killing Oculus.  :ufup

Who knew no one wants to sign up for literally a digital corporate hellscape that looks like an emulated Nintendo DS game.

Facebook is dead.

Logged back in and the feed is devoid of actual people and is just overrun with ads or "suggested" content ripped off from Tiktok, stolen TV show clips, and viral content from India for some reason.

Not even my boomer relatives are active anymore let alone young people.

RIP.

 :lol

Love how this dude went on podcasts espousing Effective Altruism.   All the money he was going to spend on charity (just not yet) saving the entire world, wearing duct-tape on his Payless sneakers while being worth 100 billion.  Such an exaggerated branding of the 'regular dude who doesn't care about money, and only like, saving the planet', who would eventually fuck everyone over.  Being worshipped at crypto conventions, talking down to economists 2 years out of undergrad...  Dude got so high off of galivanting as the normcore Jesus Christ who knew everything.

Sell a magic coin with the promise to pay back on demand

Use the revenue to buy stocks

Make big gains

Pay the buyers back.

Where they went wrong is not using the James Fund investing strategy.

Isn't the whole point of crypto not needing banks to store your money? Why would these people leave large amounts at shady companies registered in the Bahamas who may embezzle it instead of using their own digital wallets?

The founder of FTX who is now on the run was literally born at Stanford. Not in a hospital nearby, actually on the campus. His parents are well connected nerds.

Gee wonder how this all came to be...

Way too many people's lives have been irreparably ruined

Considering the long-term goal of the people running the crypto-ecosystem was almost certainly to weasel their way into pension funds and 401ks...

The whole thing imploding now actually saved people's lives (or at least the taxpayer from potentially bailing these turds out).

Don't worry, it's not that complicated.

https://m.

This video doesn't make clear that he funneled clients funds into Alameda, his trading company which took on enormous risk that obviously didn't pan out to make back what it was losing in the liquidity crunch.   It also doesn't include the most recent development that Sam basically clandestinely stole the last remnants of the money on the exchange through a backdoor he created and blamed it on a hack.  This is "alleged" but this most certainly happened.
