Dusk Golem is "reliable," in the sense that he's "predicted" Biohazard titles.

"A NEW BIOHAZARD IS COMING!!!! REMAKE OF 4!!!!!!!!!!"

It's like "no shit, it's Capcom's only money-maker that isn't Monster Hunter at this point after ruining other series. The sun goes up and down on the timeline of those." So take the Silent Hill one with a huge grain of salt.

Pyramid Head should not appear in any SH outside of 2 given its relation to James and yet they keep milking it exposing their creative bankruptcy.

3 does not have pyramid Head. Instead it had penis monsters.

Each SH should have unique monsters to represent the psyche of the character you're playing. Anything else is shit tier Silent Hill. I do not play these games for the gameplay. I play them for the story. Get it right or get out.

Dead By Daylight is a survival horror game and this is a themed expansion for it - it's not a new Silent Hill.

Yes, but it's "concept" of horror is solid. We don't really know what SHills would've done for gameplay (it could've been a walking sim of Death Stranding, after all). But the concept was "solid" enough to where folks got spooked by it, and that's what really matters in a horror game.

Also P.T. spawned (though granted, Amnesia did it before it) first-person horror games, which a lot of indie (and AAA like Capcom) attempted to copy.

There's a bunch of specific indie games that were obvious P.T. copies i think, like Visage, Allison Road (never got finished

) and a couple of other similar "walk around this modern house with spooky scripted sounds".

For sure. But we already kind of had this going on with other games as pointed out, although with PT being cancelled and the hype for it, it obviously got some people to attempt to just copy it. But hell, even SH4 had (to a much smaller extend of course) first person weirdness whenever you were inside your apartment.

There's a new scene in indie horror of people make PSX polygon horror stuff that's insanely interesting stuff. I can't recall some project names off the type of my head but one really stuck out to me and I'll send it your way once I find it.

Some i remember being good from Itch.io.
Puppet Combo's stuff, Lost in Vivo (and its extra tapes), Boolean Escape, Midnight Shift, Chilla's Art stuff, SEPTEMBER 1999, Paratopic, Dead End Road, Anatomy.

Some are free, and last very little (like 10 minutes) but are still cool to experience.

They got Keiichiro Toyama, Ito and Yamaoka. So already a far better starting point than those western studios that utterly failed.
We'll see how it's gonna work out.

I don't even know why DelToro was involved, tbh.
Granted i watched most of his movies, and only liked 3, but his style and Silent Hill's aren't really close.
And then people mention the creature design, which drives me nuts, it's not like he's a concept artist, he has people like Sergio Sandoval drawing up designs which he then approves.
It'd be like saying that George Lucas, instead of Ralph McQuarrie or Ian McCaig (or one of the other million artists involved), came up with Star Wars' visual designs/costumes/looks.
Ofc. that's the role of a director, put everything into place, but i'm saying his role within Silent Hills, when you already have such a strong personality like Kojima's, doing that, is lost on me.

Junji Ito's involvement made more sense from that point of view, since his expertise is more specialized, even though i don't see his style as very compatible either, his tone of horror is usually gross-out and comedic in nature, whereas Silent Hill at his peak is gross in a more abstract manner (and if you look up Masahiro Ito's personal work, even his Mecha artworks scream Silent Hill).
To me, it seems like Kojima is always after the biggest name he can get, like if Beksinski was still alive, he would've gotten him, probably.

Yeah Masahiro Ito now, not Junji Ito anymore, which wold be an amazing upgrade. That is what gets me somewhat positive. I fucking love all his shit, as you say, even his mech stuff is just silent hill as fuck, and great. I cant imagine that very distinctive style being easy to replicate, and for the love of God, something like Downpour was absolutely embarrassing when it came to creature design. Homecoming and Origin werent great either, but at least they tried to somewhat replicate the originals style. Downpour was just ripped straight out of Clive Barkers asshole.

God this is some of the ugliest shit I've ever seen. Would fit right into trash like dead space.

I don't necessarily think Del Toro fits the aesthetic 100%, but the man has both a very strong understanding of visual style and an encyclopedic knowledge of the genre.

I figured he'd also have the required chops to reign Kojima in a bit for stuff that doesn't quite work, but I forgot he was involved in Death Stranding so I guess I am wrong on this.

If any ends up true I hope for the Team Silent reunion, cause while PT was a fun enough tech demo that came out at the peak of streamers reacting to horror games culture I never once was interested in an insanely expositive Silent Hill desperate for an editor. I love Kojima's work and even like Death Stranding well enough in spite of and sometimes because of it's dumb shit, but he'd be a horrible fit for SH.

We don't *need* another one.

If key members of the OG Team Silent want to do another one: Great, i'll be happy to play it, but otherwise it's not like we need one at any cost.
Especially since Silent Hill's quality rests entirely on the art direction, and the gameplay mechanics are completely forgettable, so the iterating element just isn't there.
