I think with Golden so much is added to the gameplay/story/flow that it edges out FES & portable.

I love Persona 3’s attitude, characters, music, overworld etc. etc. but boy does Golden make it like the perfect Slice of Life JRPG. Persona 4’s dialogue and events are really immersive. Persona 4 made me choke up twice, the only game to do that. Golden just perfects and smooths that amazing game in so many ways.

More so than what I’m playing in Royal.

I've never played Golden. 3 is the best one imo because it was a better sim. A sim without negative effects (getting tired) is a bad simulation. Persona formula became wish fulfillment with 4. Now it's an Uguu Simulator. Meanwhile, in Persona 3, let's chat with someone with a terminal illness in a park or show the loneliness and flaws of our teacher by indicating she's just as human as you and opines for romance in an MMO.

Real talk, I don't think P3 is the best jrpg ever but it's by far my favorite.

I owned multiple copies, two copies of the strategy guide, and Fes. I was addicted to it. I loved it so much I didn't want to beat it and put off beating it for months so it wouldn't be over. I LOVE that game so much Demi gave it the nickname Himusona.

Persona Three is also my favourite, particularly FES. Best combination of Story + Theme + Mechanics. I was obsessed with it The time limited life sim aspects tying into the "everyone dies, use your time wisely) thematics, isolation from your party members (how they don't follow your every command) I don't think 4 or 5 really managed to mingle their game mechanics with their themes in the same way 3 does, even social link wise there are more interesting stories in 3. I think probably because they're just bolting 3's structure onto a new plot and enivronment. I was particularly disappointed with the half assed "rebellion" theming in p5.


But also like, maybe I should give Persona 4 another fair crack. I haven't played Royal yet so hopefully that comes to pc too.

The last semester in P5R is way better written than vanilla P5. The additional characters also are interesting, and Akechi is handled better. Also the final palace might be the best dungeon Atlus has ever made

Edit: Catherine was $20 on launch (IIRC) so suppose these will be in that ballpark. They understand it's a late port, but with this being the "enhanced" version for P4, they might knock it up $10 or so.

Persona 3 is one the goat jrpgs  The writing and atmosphere just go such a long way, and things like sickness that force you to slow down and spend your time elsewhere make the choices you make so much more significant. The first time you play it becomes really obvious you won't be able to max out everyone and that some people's stories will be left incomplete, and that's fine. you just do what you can.

It's probably Sega Europe handling this.  Can see them just giving it the emulator treatment and upscaling it. 

If they port Persona 5 to PC, I bet it will be the original version instead of Royale.  Just like how they ported the original Catherine after Full Body released (in Japan).

 

But let's see how they handle it.  My guess is if any real work is done, that means a console version will follow anyway so the rabid fanboys will be able to relax.

I mean the 544p is a downgrade from the 4:3 640x480(?) the PS2 version had. The UI being blown up makes sense in a handheld, but that's easily corrected.

I was more talking the "redone" graphics, they didn't touch up Catherine's or anything so I wouldn't expect that here. They might redo the UI to be in line with the original Persona 4, but who knows.
