I liked how Ninthings were saying it "didn't look too good" and that the "music sucked." It's like 8 months from release, and Ninfags should be the LAST people talking about graphical quality in the first place.

Remake looks pretty ugly and low-budget, but the original is the best Retrovania ever, so thank god that is included, along with SOTN... Christopher, Rondo and SOTN are arguably the 2 finest CV games ever, they are my personal favorites at least. Nearly all of the 2D series is worth playing, especially if you really liked 4, although I'll admit the GBA/DS Metroidvanias kinda blended into each other for me =P

1up describes the game as pre-beta and missing a ton of shit. But yeah, what a tragedy. They ruined the best Castlevania.

I hope they don't do anything to the game in the next 9 months until release. I hope they just do straight gouraud shading and leave out the final boss.

Hell the game didn't even come out on a Nintendo platform originally (the Snes rendition was awful as well)

I thought it looked fucking awesome regardless; great idea, PSP gets the best two Castlevanias in one package (though if you really need to hate on Sony/PSP, note it's yet another port/remake). Obviously Konami's listening to my strategery: 2.5d traditional/action Castlevanias on PSP, Metroidvanias on DS. Next step is to blatantly and unapologetically copy God of War for their home console versions.

Yeah, but would Nintendo be willing to give those tools to a third party? They sure didn't help out inis with Ouendan and Elite Beat Agents.

Not a knock on the game's quality, but I doubt I could replay SOTN without the soundtrack intact. With that soundtrack, I can pull off all those sweet moves grinding monsters forever. One of the best game soundtracks ever. If I weren't guaranteed the soundtrack at the same quality, my interest would definitely drop.

Honestly, I think with MusyX tools that Factor 5 mastered near the tail end of the N64's life, I really think the soundtrack would make it intact at a decent quality. I mean, you can never promise redbook audio, but it'd sound pretty good and faithful.

I do believe that the DS cards can store more data than the N64 carts, as well. It can be done.

It's just a matter of Konami doing it or not. A high quality, widescreen production on the PSP screen is pretty boner worthy.

Hey, laugh at it, but they got some awesome output with their tools. They had another audio compression set, but its name is lost on me at the moment.

I was always told the DS was similar to the N64, hence the 64-bit port to launch it with. I haven't researched the hardware, but that's what I assumed!

If there's one thing I hate more than ninthings being facetious about the DS's 3D capabilities, it's them making imaginary compression algorithims for how they can fit uncompressed Redbook audio onto an SD card.
