Frank de Boer has left the building.
This has to be the end of his managerial career, surely?
He's not very smart but there's always a job for him it seems.
His buddies on TV said that he needs to be on the field every day managing a club and being the national coach where he can only be on the field occasionally isn't the most fun for him.
Sticking with 5 - 3 - 2 was dumb, switching out Malen in the match against the Czechs was dumb and poaching players from the junior league to replace more seasoned players in the national team was also dumb, because now both teams suck.
It's weird though, in terms of tournament results the French and Germans did just as bad. It was just that the final match was such a shit fest it will probably go into the books as the worst match of our national team of all time.
Had he played 4 - 3 - 3 than he would've increased the scoring chances of Depay and Malen. It was the Czechs that realized blocking Wijnaldum and a few other key players meant no chances for the strikers.
They beat the trick de Boer used in the prior 3 matches and unmasked the weaknesses in the team and de Boer didn't have any clue how to change tactics. He said in an interview he was going to play 4 - 3 - 3 but the red card changed his mind.
The only 'strategy' they had was for the goalie to kick balls far across the field which again the Czechs realized were easy to intercept as those balls always targeted the same players (mostly Dumfries).
