Missed out on the CE, I'm hoping I can track down one locally in the next few days instead of playing inflated scalper prices.
Might just go ahead with the steelbook version.

I'm salty they pushed back the digital release date by a day.

Game was 11/11 last week when I pre-ordered. Now it's 11/12  :maf

Im getting into the groove but im not really loving the first area.

I also think the game doenst really explain shit too well. I thought the intro and dripfeed of new mechanics in SMT IV was a lot better.

Granted im only 8 hours in but.....

We really need Switch 2 stat.

Love the art and character design. Demon art especially. The music is absolutely superb and the dissonant sound design with its weighted distortion... It’s so, so good.

Also managed to die already. I like the Miman stuff actually because they seem to know how to hide little feral x fetal dudes in the wilderness. QOL is a bit better now too in terms of respecting player time vs SMT3.

Performance during menu switches needs work. Give me sterile data SMT3 menu switches.

Steelbook is a nice surprise. That art pops and my wife even asked me about it. Still considering spending for that limited edition.

It's open-world in the way Xenoblade is in that it's just big environments with a sense of scale. Though they aren't connected so it doesn't have that going for it.

But either way between this an YS 9, I'm down with JRPG developers actually making the moving of the character fun.

13 hours in and loving it. Worst things I can say about it is that the Switch's performance doesn't do the game justice (the frame drop switching from menu to in game and texture pop-in  :yuck) and the OST while good isn't as good as SMT4, but most game OSTs aren't.

Levels here feel very big and expansive. Since of scale is done really well.

Yes! When you turn the camera up to see giant twisted architecture and bizarre structures stretching the sky, it's a nice touch.

Even with the performance issues, this game is a breath of fresh air. Definitely my GotY so far.

Oh I do. I'll save, change my demons around, save again, remember that I need to buy/sell some things, save again, leave the save point, "wait, did I remember to save?", go back and save again, "do I have enough glory to buy any miracles?", save again, fight two monsters, "I better go back and save". That's why I'm 15 hours in and I've only just started the second underworld area.

Why the hell are you buying scalped copies? Gamemania still had it at it's retail 60 euros.

The fall of man edition is 100 euros. Anything you're paying beyond that, you're just lining some asshole's pockets.

I looked everywhere but I cant find it for 60 in Gamemania. Its just not available.. Except for pickup in some stores (which are far away)

Fall of Man edition same thing. Thats just not available anywhere anymore

On Amazon the normal edition was 75 euros.. It had one day shipping so I should get it today/tomorrow for my birthday at least. I thought my GF was picking up the game for me, but she said she didnt and now I gotta buy it myself

Also PSA the recent patch added a game changing FOV slider. I kept trying to find a camera change button and this is perfect. Makes the game much better (it was already awesome).

Has sold 800k, is now the best selling in mainline series history

As a point of comparison, Shin Megami Tensei IV achieved 600k total sales 2 years after its initial May 2013 release, in July 2015.

I wrapped it over the holiday. It was good. That being said, the thing I didn't like is that there was jack shit in terms of anything in terms of actual Tokyo landmarks, I never felt like I was in post-apocalyptic Tokyo. There was Tokyo Tower and the Ginza clock building and that was it.

In every other SMT you get hyped when you go to a new zone because it's gonna look like wrecked Tokyo and you're gonna fight demons in Shibuya scramble crossing or Shinjuku station, in this it's just sand dunes and a bunch of building meshes that they rotated 45 degrees and jammed into the ground like it's a Disaster Report game.

Also difficulty was fucked on the easier settings; Easy was still nice and brutal, but the level beneath that was literally "the MC can one-shot any enemy, you big baby." SMT4 and Nocturne's easier modes were far better.
