Thread was probably locked in large part to this post after someone asked if OP had someone to call (the subtext being that OP needed someone to talk them down from the mental health episode they're clearly experiencing)

Tin foil hat time! This is an interesting development. There are quite a lot of parties, motives and also the capabilities.

Russia - despite them not delivering much, it was still used for negotiations. Doesn’t make much sense from their end, then again when has Russia been logical? And surely it would be easier to wreck the pipes from your end instead of taking the risk of doing it there.

I think we should also consider: “Russia” can be a lot of things. Putin loses a bargaining chip, but you could also argue it is one less reason to replace him internally (so the next guy doesn’t even have the ability to turn it on and make money). But there might be some internal groupings doing this (perhaps in co-operation with certain NATO members) as a catalyst to get rid of Putin. Many options.

USA, Poland, UA certainly have the motive and guessing only the USA the capability. But then you have to consider the upside compared to the risks, if it was ever found out that would have an impact on diplomatic relations.

I’m sure we’ll eventually find out, but very interesting how this is going to impact the war.
