Kathleen Stocks wikipedia article has some archived reviews of her book which outlines her position; as a professor of philosophy, critically examining ideologies using formal logic would seem to be perfectly inside her job remit, and yet...
See, this is why this whole shebang is just pointless bollocks:
Kathleen Stock, a professor of philosophy at the University of Sussex, does not believe people can change their biological sex, an opinion she has been vocal about in her academic work and on social media. Critics have accused her of being transphobic.
Are we talking about sex or gender? Nobody knows, nobody cares, everyone just wants to fight.
the only unique new trans rights I can think of are
- it being socially acceptable and not a crime to use whatever bathroom you want
- ease of availability of transitioning drugs, though I don't know if anyone has a "right" to a product unless it's a gov funded utility
everything else is rights people already have as humans
And this is why the conversation is intentionally murky. It's not about rights, it's about privileges. Openly stating as much would be poison, so everybody plays the game.
It's a massive waste of time.
Edit: Fuck, top of the page.
