After they made a negative comment, staff permabanned their account within 60 minutes for using an alt. AFAIK, they made a new account to use a different username and alerted staff to this -- please correct me if I'm wrong.

Q1. As stated, this user has 2000+ posts and has been here since the beginning of resetera (and before). You used a technicality to chuck them like a piece of fucking garbage. Maybe it was just for two hours out of the four day debacle this thread has been, but last night I saw a glimpse of everything I love about this community, have always loved about it. And why I do what I do for free.

And all it took was some tags.

This thread has been derailed to hell and back, and back to hell .. and back (insert some moba reference). And keep in mind that this is the most important thread in the history of Era. We have like ... 7 different talking points going on here that have nothing in common + 30 spam timelines? I don't think there's a reason to be proud of the absurd derailment for such an important and serious topic.

It's worth noting here that the white person was saying it to another presumed white person. And they presumed it because, before it became about a white person calling a black person that, the post she was responding to was criticizing 'crackery' in the same way...well, racists who want to excuse bigotry would. Certainly plenty of white people have been banned for trying to argue reverse racism and that's what the post, on it's own, sounded like. So they called them a cracker, and then the person said they're black, and now here we are, but the origins of this was something that, to any eyes, sounds like a white person excusing racism would say, and that's what prompted the comment, but the conversation started with something like "Since when is crackery associated with whiteness".

Just seems like you'd be better off asking the company that owns the forum now questions around what DPO they have than the volunteer moderators of the forum.

Era should be able to state whether or not the data has been transferred or if the new owner gained any access to the data. But considering that the OTs from that one guy got restored against his own will - by using the TOS as a basis for that decision and completely ignoring the laws now in force - I guess the now applicable data protection laws aren't important enough for this thread.

Also this was just one example of many. We could go into details how the MOBA Network states that they are looking to enforce a subscription model or how they are embossing editorial information into their forums or how they are using an external agency for the ads (aka noone can change a thing if there's bad ads) or how Era will cross-subsidise other racist / bigot forums.
