We got some pretty reliable OPSINT from a trustworthy FSB-source that the Russian soldiers from the Central Group 4th Kharkiv Brigade have D-grade Chinese belts that snap as soon as they stand up making it hard to run away from direct fire engagements.
A thread to explain how this happened and what it means for the war 1/17
Fuck man, now you've got me wanting to buy some ex-military surplus belts. I slap a couple of hunting knives on my belt and I'm sagging like it's '93. Those soldier fellas have some batman style anti-gravity shit holding up all their little pouches and clips and whatnot.
You got any feedback to offer on B Grade Chinese Belts? I'm not made of money.
When we were on patrol in Sarajevo and ran out the procurement officer would slip across the border to buy belts in Croatia.
Of course those are not as well made as your typical NATO issued belt but half the price for about 80% fastness was a pretty good deal for a short deployment. 1/3
The Russian military was actually pretty well equipped belt-wise in Chechnya and Afghanistan when they were still using the Hugo Boss surplus the Germans had stashed in the DDR.
But of course when the Soviet Union collapsed all those were sold to the Goths and collectors and they started using cheaper Chinese brands. Although some WAGNER units still use those superior belts in CQC. 2/3
This is a wake up call for the Russian military. If only they had copied and repurposed the Hugo Boss belt as they had with the Sturmgewehr 44. Belts Matter! 3/3
