I think it is important to remember, that this wasn't a simple case of someone reporting abuse and not being believed. Heard did not report it to the police, she did not use the proper channels, she accused him on the world stage and for several years was believed by the majority of people. Depp was guilty without investigation or judicial procedure. It was only when the evidence emerged during this trial that the world stopped believing her (well most of it). This isn't a typical case and I hope that it won't prevent people from coming forward if they are experiencing DV, and that instead, it encourages more male victims of DV to speak up and get help.
