It's awful, but I can see it being handwaved because of people claiming "that money would just go to the Taliban". From a political point of view, it seems like a lose/lose situation, although can opinion of the general handling of Afghanistan get any worse?

Although I'd argue that if both options are bad for political optics, the better option is still the one that won't lead to a lot of people suffering or dying because they can't access their money. I'd like to think that should be the easy choice to make.

That’s not a handwave. The Taliban is not going to use that money to help anyone but their selves and finance more terrorism against any group they are opposed to.

It sucks but that’s the reality and because of that releasing it is political suicide that would only get someone the ability to say “I told you so.”

I'm Japanese and very aware of the word. In my stay of this site, I've seen racial slurs toward us several times, like Jap, godzilla quake, pride and shame, my wife etc. The ways they are using pissed me off sometimes but I usually don't bother with them. In a few times in the past, I reported/replied those posts when I was in a mood to do that and I found nothing happeded to those posts. So I started using those stuff in my post to see if something happens for testing.

This time I got a warning for the first time. The reason was "platform warning". Yes of course, console war is serious business more than using a slur to Japs. Considering resetera vs Asian community in the past, it's pretty much expected but still sucks to see the crapy moderation of this site.
