It's impressive how one group of people can reliably be against every single pro-social behavior known to man.  At the end of the day, it's not about the loss from the corporate stores.  Or fighting against the man, or the cops, or whatever.  It's about not wanting to live in a community where everyone just shrugs their shoulders and acquiesces to these anti-social behaviors and gets used to theft and lack of trust as a normal thing in their community.  It doesn't take much to understand this.  It's not about fucking Walmart.  The owners of Walmart aren't going feel anything from anyone stealing.

I like the juxtaposition of ResetERA.com yet again. A sign of "disrespect" is reason to escalate to violence and also try to invite in the state's violence.

But a reasonable response to theft gets "fuck you, we should steal more and no one should be held accountable" when this is actually traditionally considered violence, thus against the law, and an actual legitimate reason to invite the state's violence historically. (I understand that damage to your property is also violence but I'm going to have to side-eye you for wanting to pull a gun or call the cops on somebody who you suspect keyed your car.)

An actual economic argument you might try instead? Walmart is having their already slim profit margins squeezed from various factors (definitely not anything the government is doing though, the state is all beneficial and perfect, praise be the state) and this is an easy policy to change to hopefully reduce some costs whether or not there is a proliferation of organized theft rings or this is a just some media panic as you'd prefer.

The images were posted on the r/eyeblech subreddit. Someone noticed in the comments that the picture of the charred body looked exactly like the Corpse01 model from Half-Life 2. People immediately started comparing the pictures to the game's artwork. Indeed, they have the same appearance. The only modification seems to be that Valve copied the corpse's right eye over to its left. But that's it. That model's whole face is a real dead, burned corpse.

It's a giant house of cards that only works as long as we all just want to believe in the idea that capitalism just has to be fair and all those rich folks have to be intelligent, and amazing, and so on. It's hard to be optimistic when idiots like this are allowed to waste so much resources that could instead be given to people with actual talent and intelligence, but who don't happen to have a rich South African mine owner as a father.

I’ve told this anecdote before but I was at Three Thousand Years of Longing earlier this year and a full kids birthday party was there to watch it. Like ~10ish young girls, maybe 7 or 8-years old. They were all being relatively loud at the start but quieted down eventually.

About an hour into that movie there is an extended scene with gratuitous nudity and group sex that made me shy away from looking. I can only imagine those little girls were scarred for life.
