I tried to check updates on this tragic story and saw that the police's stance is that her being trans had nothing to do with it and that they are not treating it as a hate crime. Wakanda Forever has things to criticize it for but that movie def got review bombed by the usual suspects. Someone pointed out to me on discord a while ago too that the movie saw a big drop off with white audiences after its opening weekend while POC audiences actually grew in the 2nd weekend.Not saying only racists dislike that movie lol, but it definitely became a factor than it did with the first one. The point is not that Ukraine does not deserve support to fight off Russian forces. The point is that the near universal support from the West should be standard in all cases of flagrant threats to a country's autonomy and existence, should the country in question request the aid. By not doing so, and instead making selective moral appeals that colonized or otherwise minoritized peoples know is bullshit, you simply engender the continuance of oppression and lose the hearts and minds of people to other superpowers.
