Phantom Menace is the worst. Most Jar Jar, Jake Lloyd, 20 minute podracing sequence, boring story that is apparently trying to conjure up political intrigue.

Clone Wars is bad, too, but at least the godawful romance shit is hilarious. And as pointed out to me, the Jedi/Clone battle was a good action sequence. Not Yoda though. Who wanted to see a fucking 3d Yoda spaz out? Gaaaaaaaaay.

The last movie was also really bad. Well, that's unfair. It's really mediocre and it seems interminable. It doesn't adequately explain the motives for certain actions. It is lengthy, but there are a number of action sequences that aren't boring. In short, the movie is pack, end to end, like they had so much stuff to get into it (and they did). It's just that as the conclusion to a shitty trilogy, you're not going to strike gold. So yeah, it wrapped things up the best it could, but it's the product of what happens when the best just isn't very good.

Man, no way. The only thing that saved AOTC was the Yoda fight. I never got past the first 45 minutes of ROTS. TPM was fucking horribly too. But I saw it when I was a lot younger and my immaturity made it easier to digest. I haven't seen it since.

From my understanding Christopher Lee wanted to be in Star Wars since his best friend was in star wars (peter cushing) and I think the role was created just for him ala Mace Windu only existing cause Jackson wanted to be in Star Wars.

Not the main character but one of them yeah. Planet names used in the prequels and stuff were in the original script as well. It has nothing to do with the character that was in the prequels, he just re-used a old name rather than inventing a new one.

The whole chosen one prophecy stuff and Palpatine being a senator and rising and taking control was also in the original stuff IIRC.

If I must say the worst thing Lucas has EVER DONE was the fact he ended the friendship h had with Lawrence Kasdan.

Kasdan was the one who took Lucas's storyline for ESB and Raiders of the Lost Ark and turned them into a script. Both films are probably the best Lucas was involved in. Kasdan became the go-to-guy. But when Kasdan was doing ROTJ he felt after working on multiple films with lucas he had the leeway to put in his own storyline ideas. He came up with killing Han which Ford was for and Lucas got very angry over the idea of him wanting to alter the story. Because of this Lucas did not work with Kasdan ever again and would only hire script writers who would not alter his stories.

If Lucas didn't get pissed off about the Han death nonsense Kasdan may have saved the prequels.

Looking back, the only good thing about all the prequels was the Darth Maul fight at the end of TPM. Epic battle. Shame he had to die.

It was such a bummer watching that movie in the theatre though. Everything about it was wrong. My BFF and I were kind of in stunned silence once we left the theatre .. we were so amped for it and left kind of numb at what we witnessed. I never did watch AOTC in the theatre ... I waited until it hit HBO. I just knew it was going to be all downhill from there.

I used to be the biggest Star Wars fan of all time. Entire room was decorated with SW paraphernalia, and I even had the original VHS tapes signed by Mark Hammill. It was my life for about five years.

No one will be able to ever, for better or for worse. Seeing how it was a independent film project with no studio involvement outside of distribution means that Star Wars lives and dies with the Lucas family. Not like Star Trek or even LOTR where someone can meddle with it in 20+ years.

In a way I am glad Star Wars was done independently meaning no one outside Lucas has ownership over it. Purely because if Fox owned it they'd turn it into Star Trek or the Alien franchise and run it into the ground.
