Y: The Last Man is a post-apocalyptic storyline where a virus has killed every male on Earth, except one. There's kind of like a female arms race to get him, because whomever has him has the ability to reproduce, create armies, etc. There are super feminist factions that want him dead because they think Earth without man was meant to be. It's pretty good.
The Walking Dead is another post-apocalyptic storyline that's pretty much like, "What happens to the world after the zombie apocalypse." People begin to realize a future with the undead, try and live their lives, survive, etc.
I also have been reading Deus Ex Machina, which is about an engineer that due to a freak accident with supposed alien tech, gains the ability to talk to and control machines. He tries his hand at saving the world in some dumb get-up, but after 9/11 (where he only saves one tower), he runs for mayor of New York City. Now he's the mayor in a city that never sleeps and things gradually get stranger and stranger.
You can pick them up at a comic book shop, but they're also available in trades, meaning you can buy 'em on Amazon.com or Barnes and Nobles, probably.
