I can't really complain about the whole avatar thing for a hyped up game, since I'm unfortunately guilty of doing the same thing with Super Mario Galaxy (but that was the ONLY time ever!).

What irks me is that this is being done for fucking Killzone. I'd have a lot less of an issue with it if it didn't seem like this was a 98% validation and 2% actual interest in the game being good thing.

The hype for Killzone 1 was only because it was an exclusive FPS for the PS2 and it existed. Because distinguished mentally-challenged fellows were so distinguished mentally-challenged back then and lumped every FPS together, they just called it a Halo killer. In the end it was borderline unplayable.

if you want a parallel of that for today's market, it's basically the same situation The Conduit is in.
