It isn't perfect but to argue it's not close or up there with classic disney is blatant pixar trolling. Pixar today is what Walt was in the 40'-60's. They both have some weak films but we fogot over time about those weaker disney ones.

It's not like Ratatouille will be part of some trend started with Cars. Ratatouille unlike cars is getting MASSIVE praise, some of the best all year.

Cars is their only one.

What they are able to do is nothing short of amazing. Disney animation has been unable to have either critical hits or boxoffice hits in over 15 years. Dreamworks gets a few franchises to do well but they tend to be HATED by critics and non-children with the other half doing bad and being bashed.

Pixar? Critical darlings that do MASSIVE boxoffice. Critics love then, kids love them, adults love them and they make insane amounts of money. Far surpassing what any animation house is capable of since like 1992.

Finding Nemo for instance made 340 million has a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. PD you are in the vast minority on this one.

The fuck? Pixar hasn't made a single classic movie yet. Just some zany bullshit. I think that many classic 2D Disney films are overrated, but to compare them with Pixar stuff is bullocks. Toy Story hadn't content that was as irritating as the others but then again it was the first full-lenght 3D animated film.

Even when compared to the last modern classic, which would probably be The Iron Giant, it's just full of annoying humor and characters. Pixar just does well on the market because 3D is on fashion and relatively new, and they banked on it.

Yeah I knew that you were going to mention Brad Bird in the subsequent post. Bah, I'll try to watch the Incredibles to see if it's as intelligent, but my bet is that it's not since Pixar and Disney's storytelling clout probably ruined everything.

Meh, I've read that at the time Sakaguchi and his crew were looking to make more different, personal tales in Final Fantasies, that would break free from the convention that was set in stone with Final Fantasy IV-- this game is still the one game upon which every typical modern console RPG is based

even if they gave up on these ideas, it shows up a bit in Final Fantasy VIII, where the characters' personal relations have way more emphasis than the actual plot... FFVIII gets a lot of hate because of stuff like that

and I read that they wanted to make FFX a game where Tidus was terribly ill and just looking to meet his foreign family before passing away with no "save the world" epic quest too, or some shit

I already said they have two classics. I don't think they're nearly as great as Disney's best work, but they're still classic.

Personally I don't care what "most people" think; me being in the minority doesn't make me wrong automatically. A Bug's Life is average at best, Finding Nemo was boring, and Cars is horrible. Monster's Inc. is also meh. Those movies aren't much different than the other CG stuff. And like I said, nearly all of Pixar's animations follow one plot to varying degrees. Yet on GAF people are analysing the film like it's fucking Pi.

I think you are just looking for reasons to hate on a GAF mod. Different localization houses have different rules, different styles, and different translators. Without knowing better, I can't say that there isn't bootlicking, but saying there is no legit reason to prefer one localization house over another is sheer idiocy. There are still PS1-quality localizations out there today, albeit more rare.

How could anyone truly discern the written difference between products done by that company and another's without previously knowing who's taking care of adapting what beforehands? Seems like bootlicking and a bunch of placebo.

It's not like their work sound very Shakespearian anyway. I've read a bunch of RPGs that are written really articulately (like Final Fantasy XII and SMT: Nocturne), but for all the others that don't contain any sort of fancy vocabulary it sounds like bullocks.
