Many people who support greater redistribution of wealth would not personally benefit financially from such redistribution. In fact they would be hurt financially. They simply think it is the right thing to do. They may be wrong, but they are not acting out of malice or laziness.
Im sure many people in certain groups that do evil things think they are doing the right thing. What about right wing christians that bomb abortion clinics? I'm sure they think they are doing the right thing. Does that make it ok?
Obviously, good intentions do not excuse evil. I never claimed it did. The point of the comic was to malign the intentions of those who support distributive justice. I believe--for the most part--their intentions are actually good.
Anyway, I don't think the ends of distributive justice are evil. It takes a myopic ideologue to believe that things like public schools, healthcare, welfare, and pensions are evils comparable to abortion clinic bombings. Meanwhile abortion clinic bombers have a clear malicious intent: they plan on harming doctors, nurses, and women who plan on getting abortions.
