Other than having to pay, how are SA's gaming forums?

They're excellent, I read Games and YCS on a daily basis. Games for what is generally a place with solid discussions around actual released games rather than blabbering for 150 pages about the latest Killzone video, and YCS for the laid back and relaxed bullshittery and lenient rules. Much much more PC gaming discussion than GAF which is cool too. I still visit GAF but mainly for the news, I never bother to read the threads anymore.

1. Why not just do that on EB? If I see a thread on GAF that makes me want to play a game, I post about it here and discuss it here.
2. I do do that sometimes, like in the Warhawk thread that guy made.
3. Any thread for any notable release always either open console wars or a weird terse atmosphere. The whole board is infected.

Are they not open to the public?  They suffer from a similar syndrome of the GAF gaming side where there's only official threads like 800 pages long and some lttp/let's play threads.  Not much news comes out of there but it's a great community.  I don't notice any real bias but I don't keep up with it too much.  The threads are all pretty high quality since SA demands that OP's have lots of good content in them.  Oh, but Himuro posts there a lot.   

I'll have to lurk there for a while and check it out.
