IGN will not be giving it a 10. After all the shit they most likely got for GTA4, I don't think they will blow their load again so soon and over hype it. I would guess 9.5 or less.
See, this is what gets the blood boiling in the PS camp. It's not really about games getting inflated scores, but that it'd certainly seem as if PS3 exclusives get caught in the "let's temper this shit, I think they're on to is" valley between high scoring games. I don't know if it's bad release timing or what, but the result is the old "no fair" stuff a kid would pull, and just like in those cases, it doesn't take more than a cursory glance to establish that it's a sort of silly reaction, although
technically somewhat justified. Me, I think Xtards, er,
distinguished game journalists working for Xbox specific (sub)sites, are just general doofuses who consider anything good to be
great, and worthy of remarkably inflated scores. Obviously this is happening on PS fansites and magazines too, but from multiconsole sites and magazines, the Xbox review crew certainly seems a bit, er, happier and forgiving of flaws.
Still waiting for a proper review source. Insofar, I've gotten nothing out of these MGS4 reviews, with the glowing exception of Eurogamer. Which has shat its own bed by publishing reviews containing factually incorrect information. Good and honest writing, a keen eye for quality and a passion for games, is it really too much to ask?
