That's from a game save that's 3/4ths in to the game. Remember how the game has you doing all that fluff? Well, now we know where most of the game time goes to: leveling up and doing boring shit.

So much fluff.

FFXII sucks.

I'm up to the Faywood (after Balfonheim port) or whatever its called... And the game still doesn't feel like it's going anywhere, and I think I'm nearing the end. I still have a buncha subquests and hunts that I've neglected doing, though, so that I have a feeling is gonna take me a while.

There's just too much fluff in the game though, I agree. Maps are absolutely massive and lots of the game just feels like running back and forth through dungeon after dungeon after dungeon repeat ad nauseum. I can't remember the last time I even touched my controller during a boss fight, aside from maybe attempting to get a better angle on flying enemies and so I can actually see the damage I do to them (the most challenging part of the game so far!).

Graphics and music are very nice though.

I LOVE dungeon crawlers, but FFXII takes the most unappealing things about dungeon crawelrs and puts it in a shit sandwhich.

I stopped at raithwall. I got on the shiva and then fought the boss. I quit playing afterwards and I haven't touched it since november. It sits on my shelf mocking at me for all the time i spent being excited for it (5 YEARS) and the money I spent on it (60 FUCKING DOLLARS).

I hate FFXII so much.

Yes but unlike FFXII, FFIX doesn't have you doing any filler bullshit. Most of your time in FFXII is spent leveling and bullshit. FFIX doesn't have you do this, and even if it does, it doesn't use that as a crux to artificially lengthen and prolong game time.

I don't get why this is necessarily animu. I mean, his hair is blue, which is kind of annoying, but he's squinting in the shot...which produces that stupid animu eye effect. The game doesn't look anything like traditional animu.

Yeah, for all the things FFXII did right, setting and mature story line potential was what it had going for it. Sucks FFXIII has to go and fuck it all up it and animu it x 1000 instead of evolving what FFXII started.

Apparently it's possible to finish FFXII in under/around 9 hours. I guess on the Japanese speed runners site someone posted a time in the 9s for the whole game and people at SDA are trying to replicate it.

I just made it up to the final dungeon today... at about 56 hours of game time. Unfortunately I only did about 8 hunts, and didn't get any of the secret summons, or do any subquests. I'm gonna do all those before actually going through and beating the game. I can't remember the last boss I actually touched my controller once during the whole battle for!
