Shut the fuck up and just watch the movie. Take it for what it is. Its a styleized graphic novel turned into a styleized action movie. And the translation between the two is beautiful. Just like in sin city.

Toga's are fine, they made some of the ticket ushers wear Sparta gear. And the female food stand girls these nice toga dresses. But thats cause of contractual obligations with movie company.

I thought it was pretty good at face value.  It's a dumb, hedonistic action flick with more slowmo than you can shake a pole arm at. 

I also love one shot fight scenes, and this film has two fairly lengthy ones that were pretty fuck awesome.  I don't think fight scenes should be shot any other way.

i saw it thursday. it was dumb testosterone-jacked fun, and i accept that it's impossible to avoid a glorification of eugenics and fascism in a movie about socially-selected uberwhities killin' the fuck out of a polyglot horde. BEST ELEPHANT KILLING SCENE EVER.

It was a little too homo-erotic for my taste. I didn't mind that they didn't care about historical accuracy though, since they weren't making any pretenses of doing such.
