1. Stupid scene with MJ
2. Stupid scene with Aunt May before she becomes Carnage
3. X-treme Green Goblin is even stupider than you imagined

The CG is SO bad even by the low standards of the franchise.

The Peter/Harry fight was one of the worse fights I've seen in a long time. This is sad because for the most part the effects were very good throughout the scene, although towards the end they started looking horrible (light saber wtf). It probably seemed cool on a storyboard but on screen it flowed horribly and seem totally contrived. To make matters worse Harry's "costume" is beyond ridiculous. How was that abomination approved for the movie?

I'll be there on day one but I must say that I'm hype level for the movie took another hit today. There was a time when I felt that Spiderman 3 would be the only sure thing with respect to 2007 summer movies, but now I don't know.

Why are the costume designs on the spider-man movies so terrible? The original green goblin looked so fucking bad.

I don't think the costume design has been bad, save for the Osborns.  Doc Ock, Sandman and Venom all like fine and pretty faithful.  Goblin had arguably the hardest costume to bring to screen, and they probably should've opted for an Ultimate version (he becomes an actual goblin, not dresses like one).  I don't have the problems with the costumes as much as others, simply because it's a movie where a guy dresses in a red and blue spider outfit to fight crime.  They're definitely not the peak of the series.

The part with Harry flying through the tight alley way looked horrible. Especially the light saber SHIT. Wow what is this shit.

But the first few CGI shots in the scene looked great imo

I only saw the preview that was on heroes where they fight in the city, and then peter drops the ring, tries to catch it, and then harry owns him.

that part was fucking awesome

There's an additional seven minutes of footage on NBC.com in HD QuickTime format.  I'm downloading it right now.

Okay, I watched it all.  Phoenix Dark, per usual, is way overblowing it, but there is an easy to spot disparity between effects shots that looked good and ones that are either too ambitious for whatever effects house Sony is using or are not finished (maybe both?).  I'm inclined to think it's the latter, because most of the sequences that looked good were just expanded ones that we've seen before and it was the all new footage that looked pretty shaky.

The new footage doesn't really do anything for me either way.  I'm not excited, nor am I disappointed.  This movie has been on shaky ground since we knew that Venom was going to be in this with a resolved storyline to boot.  Until that is addressed, which basically means when I see it opening day, I can't really comment on if the movie will be good or not.

The CGI strangely goes from being good at times to simply horrible at other times. In the beginning of the scene there was a nice mix of CGI was actual real shots, but as the fight got more ridiculous this changed.

The CG is really awful.  For example:

Who would think this was a real woman?  It's clearly some sort of rudely-shaped gourd with a face painted on it.

I wouldn't consider those the same. While I love the Potter movies I've never skipped school to see them. The first two movies were actually kind of meh, and I didn't even see Chamber of Secrets or PoA in the theater. I didn't see the first POTC in the theater either, and while I saw the second one on day one it's not a ritual for me. I saw both the Bourne movies on DVD.

LOTR and Spiderman movies are the ones I have skipped class to see, snuck large pizzas into (stuffed inside my friend's pants), cheered during, and seen multiple times (IE 3-5 times) in the theater.
