Just by the way, I got those Bond Collection DVDs (all volumes) for Christmas and have just recently started watching from the beginning. It's pretty ridiculous how incredibly mediocre and laughable You Only Live Twice is compared to the next one, On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I love Connery, but holy shit Lazenby rocks.

I think the real travesty is Octopussy. I contend that is easily one of the worst films of all-time. It deserves to be MST3K'd.

For Your Eyes Only is considered a great bond movie by bond-whores like me and solo.

The Spy Who Loved Me also tends to get a lot of praise.

That too. But then, the UE cover art is EVEN WORSE. They look like someone with about 2 days of Photoshop experience created them.

Yeah, but I am so glad I upgraded. All of them outside of Goldeneye which is rather messed up looking look FANTASTIC compared to the SE's. I tried to go back the SE of OHMSS the other day just to compare personally and it was painful. The first 10 or so movies cleaned up damn nicely.

If this is what they call a two disc set i'm feel sorry. And its false advertising to say that there are more than 90 minutes of extras when in face its two 25 minute documentaries and a music video. The rest of the bullshit on the disc has nothing to add that is relevant to JamesBond.

2 years has been pretty standard for the franchise, aside from the first 4 films, which were obviously cheaper and faster to shoot, which were released a year apart. Also, they actually had a vast amount of Fleming material at their fingertips back then. Theres still a fair bit they havent used, but they've pretty much mined most of it.

There is still posibilities, remember how they got Casino Royale out of the lawsuit or something? I wouldnt doubt that things have been cleared up by now. I just dont want to wait another 2 years for a great bond film. I just hope they keep it gritty and realistic.

And yes Eva Green did film several scenes for the next movie. As well as Mr White before his untimely demise.

I'll take 4 gritty James bonds with Craig over 4 shitty bond films with a great bond (Pierce).

Guys, Mr. White didn't meet his demise, or at least not that we know of. Bond shot him in the leg, and presumably was gonna press him for information.

Also, you'll never see Blofeld or SMERSH or SPECTRE again. Well, I guess I shouldnt say never, since McClory DID just die this past year, so perhaps those rights are more up for grabs now.

That is what is real scary about CR and the future of the Bond series. I mean, the team behind the dreadful DAD was the same team behind the awesome CR, writers and all (exluding Haggis). Thats why I am fearful about Bond 22. Sure, its the team that made CR, but its also the same team that made TWINE and DAD. Lets hope they learn from CR's success to keep making movies like that.

I remember reading that Craig turned down the role after reading the script from the DAD guys and only accepted the role after the Haggis re-write. They NEED Haggis back.

It also helps that Royale was the closest to a Fleming novel since the Connery films so it had that as well to keep it going. The problem also is, excluding Connery, no great Bond film has ever been followed up by another great bond film.

And I'll bet dimes to donuts they wont get him. This was definately a one-shot deal for Haggis. Probably a boyhood fantasy to write a Bond flick. I can't fathom him returning. Neither will Campbell. So at the very least we're gonna have the crappy old writers and a new director.

And no Fleming novel to keep the plot from growing out of control. The only thing that keeps me optimistic is that the two writers said no Q and no gadgets for Bond 22 again.

Still, expect something the caliber of TWINE (I cant see them going as far out as DAD for some time) for Bond 22. Probably passable, but utterly disappointing as a CR follow up.

it also helps that this a a DIRECT sequel to CR continuing the story from that. It has Mathias, Vesper..etc still and has the same storyline. It will be hard for it to take a total 180 in style.

Also my gut feeling is that Craig is a type of bond actor that could make a generally weak Bond film still enjoyable due to his presence of the character. Unlike a Moore or Brosnan.
