I didn't read any info regarding Dragon Quest 8 at all and fuck did it make my experience with the game much more enjoyable (almost the experience I had as a kid with games in regards to not knowing anything about the game beforehand). I need to do this with Metal Gear Solid 4 info but I don't think I can control myself.

I usually have to get a strategy guide for every RPG I buy because if I get stuck for more than an hour I just stop playing.

However, I only turn to it when I am stuck or to find all the side quests.

I think that theory is flawed. I've played lots of games where I've read previews and reviews and shit and end up loving the hell out of. Most of the time, if the devs are smart enough, they make most of the best features hidden and you find out about yourself. For example, we knew a great deal about what was in San Andreas but R* was holding so much shit back that was not shown off. Like the Jet Pack, shit like that.

Thats very true. I guess Developers should be party responsible to hype up the game and yet hold back on lots of info about their games.

The problem with me is, I usually stumble upon, or actively look for, important plot details or gameplay aspects that usually take away the shock/wow factor. Going into DQ8 without any prior knowledge as to how the stat system was made up, how the battle system looked and how big and colorful the world is made the game more enjoyable for me.
