I don't like how it looks realistic. I guess part of the charm was due to the lack of polygons, they were forced to make the world and its inhabitants more stylized. Now that it's so realistic, it kind of takes away from the charm of the series. And gameplay-wise, it's been boring for awhile.

looks kind of meh.

didn't show ANY gameplay. Not even any lip-synching. More of a (not too great) tech demo.

going through liberty city in LCS was such a tedious and boring task.

I dont know if next-gen graphics will suddenly make Liberty City fun again. I liked it in GTA3 but crap, after LCS I didnt want Liberty City again

Did you think that they possibly won't redo all of Liberty?

Liberty City Stories was like that because it was on psp, and it would be faster to reuse assets from the ps2 game.

This is an official new numbered GTA. They will be starting from scratch.

Personally, I love Liberty's atmosphere the most, so I'm really excited.

There was a lot that I thought they were missing out on with LCS and GTA3 with liberty. And that was due to scope and limitations at the time. So if everything gets a nice fully realized Liberty going on it could be one of the best GTA's. SA was too big and lost a lot of its character by being so big. So my hopes are that they take a smaller area and flesh it out the best they can ala bully. Which showed a lot of promise for what GTA4 could bring.

Cool that it takes place in NYC. I'm looking forward to seeing the radio station lineup (how much you wanna bet it's better than the shit we have on real NYC radio), and to see if they made the missions more fun to do and fixed up the controls. Might be the first GTA I actually play through

Also, one thing to consider. Listen to waht the main character says. We may not only be going to Liberty in this game.

Maybe he's not talking specifically about the city, but America in general? After all, the guy has an accent.

What I love is that its more New York than the made up city that is Liberty City. It look more realistic but that comes with the next gen bump. They could have gone the Crackdown route...where its more stylized...but I prefer this look instead.

I think playing as a Russian will be awesome.

I'm sort of worried about that too. I'm sure it won't be as bad as the characters heads bobbing around when they're speaking but yeah.

For a moment I thought the character models would be as good as the table tennis ones but thats just asking to much out of a game that isn't confined to one room. Either way, pleasantly surprised with what I saw.

If the visuals were consistent throughout that entire map like they are in Liberty City...I would be so fucken happy. But the map is probably a fake. Notice though, that Vice City, Liberty City and Los Santos are all on the same map :O

What did people expect from the new trailer?

I like this serious vibe it gives off despite loving the humor and character that R* gave past GTA trailers. And even then, the bulletin boards and shit prove that it's going to be good ol' GTA.

some people are disappointed because you know... unlike VC or SA this one has a numeral in the title, so people were expecting something awesome and new but instead we got a game based on a city we already played in and what looks to be relative the same time period as GTA3, which is modern era.
