POTC1 dragged along and seemed too long. POTC2 was pure action from start to finish. Jack's first appearance on camera was badass, and caused the entire audience to cheer lol. The only bad thing about the movie is that it's extremely shallow. As my brother said, it's a giant chase scene. The inclusion of the savages was really stupid, and that part served no purpose.

The ending of the movie was great though

The shallowness hurt badly. It just felt so so so cookie cutter blockbuster after the first movie. I enjoyed it, but its a empty summer blockbuster.

How is the first one not a cookie-cutter summer flick? It really didn't have much of a plot and the script definitely didn't really get you to try to really care about the characters... thank christ, and rightfully so, because it's a fucking pirate movie with sea monsters. That's it. Sea monsters, shit getting killed and exploded, special effects, huge scale battles and Bill Nighy playing one of the coolest villains ever. And sea monsters. Seriously I have longed for movies with giant ass sea monsters and Pirates 2 delivers.

When the Kraken pulled the ship underwater breaking it in half, I didn't need critics telling me that it was a bad movie. Fuck that shit.

1 didnt have sea monsters. The baddie in 2 was a one-note fish thing. The baddie in second was Geoffry Rush acting awesome.

The baddie in the second was badass Bill Nighy playing a much cooler villain. Besides Rush is kinda good guy/bad guy now anyway. Davy Jones is the real badass baddie now. Barbossa is awesome though, love him. I just don't really consider him a "villain" anymore.

And I know the first one didn't have sea monsters, which is one of the many reasons the second is better.

I think we can all agree that Pirates are better than Ninjas, especially ninjas masquerading as spandex wearing emo teenagers acting like spiders.
