Well it's a famous sword. Plus, it's a tv series. When you watch sci fi movies do you go batshit when they're able to hack into alien technology?

He tracked down a specific sword, to a specific museum in a specific city based off of this:



Note that you can not even see the symbol on the handle that he apparently uses to track the sword.

It's my experience that when people are nitpicking logistical plotholes of a film or television series, they're mostly just looking for something to criticize for the sake of justifying their own distaste or riling other people up.  You're also demanding answers to questions that could be explained later on, which seems like kind of an unfair onus to put on the writing staff .  That plus the troll-y thread title lead me to a perhaps unfair conclusion.

Actually, I've been picking my battles and only complaining about things that are unlikely to be explained further on.  Like I said, I gave this show a fair shot.  The trolly title was a joke. . until I started actually recognizing problems with the episode I was watching at the time. 

Note that very few of my nitpicks have to do with Sylar and the Glasses dude, for example.  I have questions, but they can still be answered.  characters spontaneously knowing things they could not possibly know. . .that can't be explained.

Enough people told me otherwise that I figured I'd give it a chance.  It's a tempting idea for a show, and I figured that maybe the people complaining just didn't grok superhero shit.  I thought they were complaing about things like ITS IMPOSSIBLE FOR MAN TO EVOLVE TO FLY!

I think you'll understand that for whatever reason, I wouldn't be sold on the comics answering my questions.  And that's not a slant on Heroes, it's a slant on television shows and movies for decades having non-canonical comics and novels and what not.  I've been trained that only the main medium is canon.  Again, nothing against Heroes, I say the same thing for Doctor Who.  And Night Court.

But still, if I get bored enough maybe I will track them down and throw em on my Zen.

Most of the Doctor Who novels are written by show writers, too.  But they aren't televised.  This season, one of the books is being adapted for television though.

The way I see it, even if the original creator or writers from the show/movie have worked on other materials other than the "main" format, any material not chosen for the "main" is by exclusion, secondary at best or not good enough to run with the big dogs.

Fallout and Godsend haven't been as bad.  They really should have written Niki, DL, and Micah out of the show, though.  I have no doubt they will find a way to tie them into the store, but at this point, it's not because they logically fit into it, but because the writers just have to find a reason to tie all the stories together.

If it's taken this long, more than half of the season, for the writers to find a way to merge their story into the main line, then yes, I'd consider it half-assed.

That's a huge flaw with Heroes, have to watch the first half to basically know why the fuck the character did what he did but you don't really get entertainment until the second half.

I've made copies of all the 1st season's episodes and unlike you, *I* think the time the show got REALLY rad is when Claire woke up in the morgue. So she busted out of there flawlessly -  yo, she almost (and I think she really would've if NBC weren't pussies) killed her fucking wannabe rapist soon after that. I was pretty impressed with how far they pushed the retribution envelope for a mainstream teevee show (but I mean, come on. It's nothing like Omar on The Wire or David getting fucking tortured on Six Feet Under, but that's not teevee, that's HBO).

can you just try to be a little more... fuck, i don't know, FORGIVING of this show? if more serials were as well crafted as this show - despite the nitpicky flaws, yes - i would be a LOT happier with the state of mainstream teevee.

also, I would like The Amazing Race to start auditioning for some really lower-level human beings to play the fucking game instead of beauty queens and manufactured relationships, but that's because TAR is the one reality show I once had respect for (fuck a Survivor)

Oddly enough, Corny, this is when I first became frustrated with the show.  No trolling, again, people I was talking with as I was watching this episode can back up that I was bitching about it in real time.

She wakes up in the morgue after the doctor leaves to answer the phone or whatever.  She puts on a white coat and. . .walks out?  Morgues have armed guards in hospitals.  How did she manage to escape?  The show skipped over a potentially interesting scenario for no reason, really.  The next time we see Claire, she is walking in the front door of her house several hours later.  Nothing interesting happened between her exiting the original morgue doors and her coming home?

I mean, that isn't a plot hole or anything, but it was willfully skipping over an interesting story.  At the end of the previous episode, I was amped to see how she was going to escape such a precarious situation, and instead they completely skipped it.

Sometimes that involved walking gurneys with dead folk into the morgue. There was a little keypad on the door to the morgue, and that was it, my man - no cameras or anything else that I saw, even.

But I know, anecdotal evidence FTL. IMO Claire could've totally busted out of there while the tech was taking a fat shit or diddling herself in the ladies' room. Nobody gives a shit once you're dead, dude.

Even if that is the case, it's sort of anti-climactic that all there was to it was walking out and then walking home.  They even built the scenario into a cliffhanger.

The problems are quite evident in the beginning.  The shit really starts to pick up a few episodes before Company Man, and then it turns into the best fucking two hours of sci-fi TV I've seen in a long as time with Company Man and the episode following that.

After Company Man, Bennet became my favorite character and he is STILL my favorite character.  TVC, once you get to Company Man, I'm fairly confident you'll at the least enjoy the show a lot more and actually be a fan of it.
