This is depressing. I didn't accomplish anything spectacularly awesome so far and am now pretty much useless seeing as how I will no doubt spend the rest of my life watching Matlock reruns and shit- that's what old folks do, right?

dude, flip the switch and you can get a job and money. smart people can make money; it's a fact of life. i wouldn't lament the money thang; the hardest part for me at 30 was accepting that i wasn't gonna be some brilliant young author praised to the high heavens but instead another working stiff. that's not to say i won't be an author someday, but adulthood has invested me with a certain new level of patience and urge for self-development.

these days? heavily-stylized horror novels. and i do write them. i just don't get them published, which means they're worth fuck-all. :'( currently, writing fiction is just something i do to exercise the ol' creative muscle. well, the other creative muscle.

I like to write about misguided late 20 somethings who don't know what the fuck they're doing with themselves or what this crazy world is all about.

But then I realize that's all bullshit, and will start writing either some wacky sci-fi weirdness like a guy who is 3 degrees to the left of reality or about an insane black pimp/gangster/gigolo/ninja master named BLACK CALIGULA and shit; it really just depends on my level of intoxication.

I turn 30 in three months. It's no big deal-heck, if anything, I want to get older, if only to be able to grow a nice grey beard to stroke while contemplating my next turn in my disgustingly overengineered turn based strategy game or mulling over build orders in whatever RTS I'm binging on.

Also, since I play bridge (the card game) and birdwatch already, it's not like I'm not already an old fart in spirit anyway. I just wish I could get the seniors' coffee at McDonalds.

I keep mine fairly trim but growing a decent bit o facial hair has introduced the weird beard tweaking.

Also I like having it cause it removes the requirement of shaving the hardest parts to shave often. Course if I get a 5 o clock I look horrible with it lol.
