Hold your horses Great Rumbler. I still need to place my last entry down.

Day 30 - Credits music

Well I have never played Skies of Arcadia. This track though makes me almost feel like I've been on the entire journey with my swashbuckling crew. Like something out of a kids adventure movie from the 1980s or perhaps and animated film from that decade too. It's always a good thing when a music track alone punctures your heart with all sorts of emotions even when you haven't experienced what it's set to.

I love Skies of Arcadia but I found Legends to be borderline unplayable because of how the music sounded in-game. Even the new content wasn't enticing enough to keep me playing. So a port of Legends with the original Dreamcast music intact would be perfect.

This post taken from the wiki explains it well:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Musically, a major cause of the sparse sound isn't the disc space (as tight a fit as it was), but not porting the music properly to the GameCube hardware. It originally used the Cybersound wavetable synth/sound engine for music playback, but when they were porting it as Legends they ended up using the MuseX audio engine. Many of the effects applied by Cybersound at playtime in the Dreamcast version are missing or badly simulated on Legends, resulting in instruments that tail-off to silence unnaturally and other weird oddities like slightly off pitch instruments at times. Many tracks have incorrect volumes*, resulting in quiet drums and buried secondary instruments among other issues.

*plus fluctuating volume

Day 1 - Super Mario Bros(?)
Continuing with the Great Rumbler list.

First game I've ever played can only be a few.
I faintly remember my brother getting our first console, the NES in 1991 or 1992. I must've been 2 or 3 at the time.
TV"s were still quite expensive back then so all the kids lucky enough to have their own played on our parents old TV's, which looked like this:

Because my dad loved to tinker with electronics and repaired them for our local community we had a bunch of other devices such as the Commodore too and other computers.
Basically people would bring him their left-over electronics so he had parts he could use for repairs.
Some stuff I don't remember the names and brands of but we definitely had a 286(I believe it had a green screen and very large floppy's?), 386 and finally the 486, which was the leap everyone was waiting for.
A few of the games I remember were Space War and Battle Chess.

Kinda cheating since I never played the Atari ST version, but Centipede [arcade version that a local pizza place had set up] is definitely one of the first videogames I can remember playing.

Day 1 - This isn't necessarily the first game I ever remember playing (pretty sure either Atari 2600 or an arcade game), however I definitely remember it being the first game that truly opened my eyes to video games as the greatest thing ever.

Day 1 of GR knock-off 30 day bungaloo

Well we had a OG gray Game Boy and the SNES and I don't know which came first to our household. Who cares though right? Let's go with Super Mario World, cause my god that game is still fantastic today and the OST is classic Koji Kondo. Not a bad mix if I do say so myself.

Super Mario World - Overworld theme

Edit: looking at youtube for this track, I got a strange vibe that there was some strange culling of Super Mario World tracks at some point  :lol. So many uploads have this weird glitch where the volume goes up about 5 seconds into the track. Apparently reuploads from Gilvasunner, but I somehow doubt that Gilva would uplaod tracks that have volume level issues. The fight for free music on youtube goes on and on. FUCK OFF AND CHANGE COPYRIGHT LAWS NAOOO!!!

Falling behind.

Day 2 - visual novel

I have lots of love for Clannad. Admittedly particularly for the actual anime, but I have done several routes in the visual novel. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the VN and anime share the same music. And I've played the game more recently than I have seen the anime and I didn't get the impression that the music was different. I do wish to continue the game and be able to get on the "True" route (essentially After Story). One of the things that makes it easy to do so, aside from reliving the story, is the music.

Clannad - Snowfield

Little bonus - all the emotional songs from the show/VN. Many a tears were shed when I watched the show. It was perfect timing in my life and I couldn't have asked for a better anime.

Clannad is my favorite. Means the world to me. After Story in particular is just wow. Dangos for life.

 :japancry :uguu

Extra: Can I also give a shoutout to Katawa Shoujo. The background of the game and how it came to be is fascinating to me. Putting that aside I really enjoyed it to. It's free. So you know, just go for it if the concept strikes your fancy. Also, Hanako is the best girl.

I tend to find that other 'scary' video game music has a melody of some sorts in it, which makes it less scary and this doesn't.

Day 5 - music you listen to when you want to chill

Vit-Smyty used the Moon Remix RPG track I had in mind during the last 30 day challenge. I won't repeat that then. I was thinking Kate (Puzzle) from Mirror's Edge, but I think I'll save that game for something else.

I think this is a good day to use up TES IV: Oblivion. There is something chill and peaceful when making your way around the world when you aren't in the heat of a battle. The calm outdoors and night sky are greatly aided by the score. You know, sampling some of these calmer tracks at the moment of writing this post, I wouldn't necessarily use them as tracks to chill to in the kick back and get blunted/buzzed kind of way. Sometimes these calm tracks are a little too epic to be used for that. I think it's a "chill" in the sense of the natural world peacefully existing but with a hint of respecting nature cause she can rough you up if you aren't paying attention.

Day 6 - Music from a game developed in your country of origin

If you want to stick out like a sore thumb please buy a "Czech Drinking Team" shirt while you are running around Prague drinking Pilsner Urquell. British bros chill out yo. I know it's cheap and all compared to England, but fuck. You guys are straight up the worst tourists by far. Amricans too scared to try some Vepro Knedlo Zelo, we got you covered. There is a TGIF right in the main square of the new town. Several McDonald's and Burger Kings too. Actually, don't go to Burger King in the CZ. It's pretty bad (funny enough I once had BK in Spain and it was also shit. Maybe they just suck everywhere outside North America). KFC has some sweet burgers too. Yep, burgers. Texas Grander is my jam. No Taco Bell as far as I know. But you just go ahead and get your fix at Burrito Loco. Place is clutch.

I was thinking of going with a game from Acclaim, but they only published games, not developed. Would that count?
Game dev in NYS is pretty sparse... some companies have satellite offices here (most famously Rockstar) but nothing that iconic.

Today is Koji Kondo's birthday. He goes hard in the most unexpected places.
Knowing everyone would skip this in 2 seconds he still made an awesome theme.
Same with the Mario 64, Star Fox 64 menu themes. With that said the Zelda file select is probably the most famous of his menu themes.

Day 7 - Menu Screen

Fun fact, last year the prototype music for Sonic 3 was discovered, which was actually very similar to the PC version soundtrack which was dunked on for years.
Turns out it was significantly reworked and adds fuel to the urban legend that Michael Jackson involvement completely overhauled the soundtrack of Sonic 3.
Which at this point is pretty much confirmed.

Yeah, MJ had some input on some of Sonic 3s ost is definitely confirmed at this point.

Day 7 - main menu music

Never Forget. The track title is perfect, no? I mean a lot of us particularly on the west side of the Atlantic Ocean played Halo 3 a lot. Too much. I loved both the campaign and the multiplayer side of the game. Really a highlight from that generation and a special time when I was living with certain roommates and we'd set up LAN parties at our place. You can't forget those experiences. And as we get older you look more fondly at them cause it's hard to recreate with how people have moved on in life.

I can't think of too many menu screen tunes off the top of my head. I tried to see if I could hum some from games I really enjoyed, but for the most part couldn't think of them. Wasn't going to go to youtube and start researching. I went to Halo 3 cause I actually knew that pretty well in my mind. And all the other aforementioned stuff is why I am very happy to place it on this day.

Day 9 - Licensed songs

Guess I'll have to hand it to my brehs at Remedy and the Poets of the Fall for their work on Alan Wake*
But of course there were also the amazing soundtracks of GTA Vice City, Need for Speed Underground 1 & 2 and much more.
And don't forget Hideo Kojima picks in Metal Gear Solid 5 such as the Man who sold the World and Nuclear.

Day 9 - licensed music in a game

I'll leave the two honorable mentions in the bottom cause they have a special footnote for being essential to their respective game.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 - Amoeba (performed by the Adolescents)

Honorable mentions:

Butterfly by Smile (Dance Dance Revolution). Utter eurotrash.

All I Want by The Offspring (Crazy Taxi). Ya ya ya ya ya!!!
