Day 24

Actually I think the entire Zelda series soundtrack was devised in a lab to create the most memorable music of all time but I might still need Zelda for the credits roll, nostalgia or Final Boss
So I give a shout out to my boi Kirby for this particular catchy tune.

And for a while after Playing Nier Automata this was constantly in my head https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2rskEKpUDI

The No More Heroes motif in general. It's in the Travis Strikes Again Silverface song I posted as well.

Day 24 - In your heaaaaaaad in ur heaaaeaeaead

Truth be told no VGM ost or track has been rumbling in my head recently, but I like to listen to the Aersia Vidya Intarweb Playlist. It has an HTML5 version if you search google and I think Cats777 (playlist/site owner) recently made their own updated player as Flash is going to die this year.

But I bring it up because in the VIP section I often stumble upon some Jake Kaufman tracks and always am reminded how much I do like the work he has done on the Mighty Switch Force series. Thinking back to the vocal track day, Jake also composed Double Dragon Neon. Man I love the track Mango Tango. But the actual song that gets today's honors is the one I think of first when I think of western vgm composer treasure, Jake Kaufman:

Mighty Switch Force! - Love You Love You Love

[Day 24] Music stuck in your head:
RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 (ps4)

A year and a half later, i still hum this tune every once in a while, despite not having played the game since.
Could've also gone for Cruel World, which had the same effect, but i just like this one more, tbh.

[Day 25] Music that gets you pumped:
Battle Arena Toshinden 2 (ps1)

Was thinking of posting something from Grandia 2, which had a nice anime soundtrack, but then i remembered this.
Go ahead, find me a fighting game with a more hype soundtrack than this game's.  :smug
It's even got saxophones with riverb out the ass.  :lol

It's a Japan-only port of an early-80s text adventure game, so I'm probably not ever gonna play it. On the other than, its Yuzo Koshiro soundtrack absolutely slaps.

Day 27 - handheld game music

Man, I was going insane trying to find this song. I was like "it was definitely a Final Fantasy game on the Game Boy I swear." At first I was digging all around FF Adventure (technically the first Mana game) and then I got lucky and a recommendation on the side mentioned FF Legend. So I was like, "it has to be that then." Except it wasn't. But ho ho, a sequel? FF Legend 2. THERE SHE BE! FF L2 - Save the World. So so good. By the the way FF Adventure totally wipes the floor with the Legend games osts, but this track from Legend 2 is  *muah*. Oh and while I was considering also going for a different system, the truth is I love the Game Boy sound chip. Love it.

Day 28 - music that makes you nostalgic

Shall I go with a game that I have experience with from long ago, therefore being actually nostalgic about it? Or shall I pick a tune that evokes the feeling of nostalgia regardless of any experience?

Well, why not both eh? We can feel nostalgic about games from the 00s at this point, no? I already used up Persona 3, but the feeling at the end of Persona 4 was about the same. The whole "I'm gonna miss my digital friends and waifu"

[Day 29] Final Boss Music:
Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver (ps1)

This music, the one from the intro, starts when you fight Kain in the time machine room at the end, i can't think of a more epic piece that, even if in this case licensed, has become so tied to the identity of a franchise.
Probably one of the videogame soundtracks most burnt in my memory from those days, just incredible vibes.

Made it in time.

[Day 26] Music you like from a game you haven't played
spoiler (click to show/hide)

Game: ABANDONER (PC) | Track: The Sea | Composed by kt2

What I said in day 13 applies to this, too. The game is a VN, meaning I will never play it. With that said, the game's soundtrack gets high praise from many because it doesn't sound like your typical VN soundtrack. It's really quite downbeat. Mix of moody downtempo, ambient, and trip hop.
[close]

[Day 27] Music from a handheld game
spoiler (click to show/hide)

Game: 7th Dragon 2020 (PSP) | Track: Battlefield - Swiftly and Speedily | Composed by Yuzo Koshiro

Good battle track from Koshiro.
[close]

[Day 28] Music that makes you nostalgic
spoiler (click to show/hide)

Game: Phantasy Star Online (DC) | Track: Image of hero | Composed by Fumie Kumatani (I miss her...)

I was lucky enough to have access to all three consoles when I was younger (it helped I had older brothers) so I don't prefer one over the other or anything* (though Sega is cooler let's be honest). But for whatever reason, I never feel nostalgic when listening to 90s era Nintendo OSTs. I don't know why. Sega games on the other hand, especially Saturn/Dreamcast era... they hit me hard, man. Phantasy Star Online, episode II especially, just... the music and the in-game atmosphere work so well. Like really fucking well. No other online game I've played has managed to capture the feel PSO has. Not even the good-but-not-so-good weeb as fuck PSO2, and definitely not FFXIV. Nothing comes close to PSO.

*I did not like the N64 very much.
[close]

[Day 29] Final boss music
spoiler (click to show/hide)

Game: Lighting Returns Final Fantasy XIII (but keeps the OST) (PS3) | Track: Almighty Bhunivelze | Composed by Mitsuto Suzuki (Arranged by Mitsuto Suzuki and Kengo Tokusashi)

The more I listen to this the more I love it. I'll go as far to say it's my personal favourite FF final boss track. Such a joy to listen to with headphones on.
[close]

[Day 30] Credits music
spoiler (click to show/hide)

Game: Suikoden (PS) | Track: Avertuneiro Antes Lance Mao | Composed by Miki Higashino (it's confirmed that she composed this track)

One of the best. (The actual credit roll track isn't as great)
