If you frame it that way, most characters on the show are kind of useless. The Sparrow movement kind of came out of nowhere, they also cucked Cersei who was fucked without Qyburn. In the books she is still cucked.

Sansa is my version of Cindi's Jaime. Fucking hated the bitch in the first half, found her plotlines annoying and plodding around for a few seasons, but now... yeah, go get 'em girl.

For the majority of her scenes lately, Sansa is the one talking the most sense in the room.

Which may speak to the quality of the show, but ignoring that...

Yeah man. She rapes him twice. One time Baelish tells Catelyn his love for her and she rejects him. He gets drunk to help him get over it. Too drunk. He goes to bed and Lysa comes in pretending to be Catelyn. They have sex. The second time, Petyr challenges Brandon Stark for Catelyn's hand in marriage. He gets owned and knocked out and later put on highly doped up medicine. Lysa comes and rapes him again, again posing as Catelyn. This time she gets pregnant. Lord Tully sees Littlefinger as an unsuitable match for her standing so he forces her to abort. She does. She's given the hand of Lord Arryn partly because of his age, and also because she has "soiled" herself, which makes finding a matching suitor hard.

The crazy train just continues from there.

I have no idea if this is in the books or show at this point. In my old age, the two start to blur.

A lot of the fan theories about characters returning and hidden affections make sense if we had another 2 seasons to go to develop them.
At this point I don't think any of these things will be resolved in the show but we'll have to wait and see.

After all Dany had a vision of herself in Kings Landing back in season 2. Now people say it was covered in snow but what if it was ash? She takes her throne on the ashes after KL is burned.

I do hope we get some more amazing music

I'm not sure who lives or dies but I think that at some point everyone but Cersei and Dany realize that the throne just isn't worth all this blood.
In that scenario Sansa could very well win and the kingdoms could become independent again.
