can't see Grasshopper making two full NMH games at once, along with whatever mystery projects Suda is apparently always working on. HD port of the first one, maybe?

oh, and Phoenix Wright is confirmed for WiiWare. first game will cost 900 points (the extra case from the DS game will be DLC), the 2nd and 3rd games will cost 1200 points.

I'm curious how they will bring over the waggle. Maybe they just turned it into a button masher now. It's a pretty short game too.

No More Heroes DS has classic con compatibility.  I wonder what the point of this is though, game bombed hard in japan.

If it's a port of the first one (and I'm assuming you don't have a high tolerance for shitty games) then I doubt you'll be pleased.

I played the first one and loved it.  Granted-- i got it on launch and hated it at first.  There's a lot to not like, but mostly it's the GTA-style open world and jobs that I hated. I gave it a chance a while later and played through the whole thing rather quickly.  I'd totally play it again on the 360.

Dynasty Warriors Strike Force 2 was also announced.  Special (for consoles) hasn't been localized in English yet, Sengoku Musou 3 isn't out yet, nor is Shin Sangoku Musou 5 Empires for PSP.

Koei  :lol

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I will probably get Sengoku Musou 3.  Samurai Warriors and Warrors Orochi are great and don't get milked anywhere NEAR the amount Dynasty Warriors does.

To be fair, all versions are going to sell like crap, although it will be interesting to see if the ps360 versions sell like 20-30k combined while the wii sequel sells like 6k. HAHAHHAAHHAHAHA

:( Sin and Punishment.

I never played through No More Heroes.  Got bored after the second boss fight.  Are they going to improve the game play in any way?  The non-boss stuff was so repetitive and boring.

Biohazard 5 Alternative Edition (PS3)
-February 18, 4980 yen.
-DLC will be 500 yen each per episode, two episodes total.
-Two costume packs for 200 yen each.

booo

So ten bucks for the DLC.  It's what I expected.  The costume packs for another $4 is LOL though.  But I'm a sucker and will buy.

But what I want to know is, does that mean the Alternative Edition WON'T have that content and will only have wand waggle added?   :lol

This is the first and hopefully last time I'll ever say this:

Suda51 can go fuck himself

Suda is my hero and I love NMH and am there day one for NMH2, but why the fuck would I want the same exact game I played over a year ago on more powerful hardware yet it looks generally the same?  Even if it looked a whole lot better...WHY.  Seriously if you are just going to port a 2 year old game then don't even fucking bother.  It's a waste of time that could have gone towards making something ORIGINAL on PS3/X360.  Hell they could've at least ported NMH2 and then I wouldn't buy the Wii version and there'd be some point.

PS3/X360 finally get a Suda game and there's absolutely 0 reasons to play it.  What a sad fucking day this is.   :maf :maf :maf

I'll rebuy it. To be honest I thought the waggle kinda saved the original NMH's combat from being completely terrible. I guess they'll be replacing the suplexes and stuff with analog stick movement, but it won't be the same. And this is coming from someone who can't stand motion control.

On a side note I bet the Mushihime reviews whine about the difficulty.

i hear its kinda alright, need a nice rig to run the games decently.

You can buy a wiimote to use of you want but you can use the keyboard , mouse (if i remember correctly), 360 controller . It would recognize the wiimote using bluetooth.

I'm kind of surprised at how many good games the Wii has despite that it's so fun to make fun of it for having no games.

Sin & Punishment 2 (OMG AWESOME), NSMB Wii (GREAT), FFCC Crystal Bearers (PRETTY GOOD), Silent Hill Wii, Tales of Graces

It'll have better controls and updated graphics.  maybe they'll work on the framerate and take out/update the job shit too.

once you've had that there is no point in playing this.  This version only exists for people who didn't play it on Wii, which I guess is actually a lot of people but those people AREN'T ME so I get to gripe.

NMH > Killer 7

resistance is futile.

the screenies look fine for now, but we haven't seen any of the open world stuff...maybe they've just scrapped the shit? a straight boss run with a few extras would be fuckawesome altho to be honest this is one of the few wii games where i feel that the waggle makes the game more fun.

I like how they pick an out of focus shot  :lol

Looking at the HD pics, the textures look identical and the geometry is identical and there is no lighting like the Wii version.  The only difference is they've added some shine/glean/shadowing to the various bosses and upped Travis' model a bit.  Plus given the game a boost of AA so the IQ is clean and sharp.

Meh.  Would it have killed them to at least add a 2 new bosses/stages?  SOMETHING to make the game worth playing if you've beaten the original?

I love how the posterized/cut out look is seen as some sort of strength for lower resolution systems but you take that same look and put it on an HD system and it looks magnitudes better than it would on a lower resolution console :lol

Building looks the same.  It's just lit up vs. dark.
Lightsaber looks different because you mod your lightsaber in the game.
Tattoo is slightly different, yeah.  Still looks low-res though.

That could easily be a Wii pic.  Ground texture still sucks.  Boss is still polygon starved.

The building is drastically different and has little to do with lighting: the roof isn't the same, and the wii version lacks details added in the hd version. Travis' jacket has much more added detail, Travis is taller. No one is saying it remotely looks like something we're used to this gen like Valkyria, but it now looks like a early 360 game, than a ps2 game.

If wii could do this, with such clarity and sharpness, then why haven't we seen wii games that have this level of detail?

Why is this even an argument? even if they were the same models and all that, it's not like you could notice it on the blurry Wii version that dropped frames like a motherfucker.  Unless whoever porting this is awful, it would at least have a consistent frame rate (60 or whatever) and the screens show that it's actually sharp and show off the models/textures properly.  I'm sure if you played the Wii game on an emulator it could look closer to this, but that wouldn't be playing it on the Wii.

skimming through that thread on gaf, the major defending points are "waggle made the game" (a dumb statement), "NMH2 blah blah" (ignore that we're excited for CoD4 when MW2 is already out!) and "the models and textures on the Wii version are great...when you rip and look at them on the PC" (bravo!)

and I have no intention of buying this.  The first game was enjoyable but that enjoyment was cut with boring open world segments.  If NMH2 was coming out on 360/PS3 within a reasonable time around the Wii version, I'd get that instead.  I already planned to play NMH2 with the CC Pro.

Ok, now this is silly.  I'm not going to get into "WAGGLE IS ESSENTIAL" propaganda or anything, but you're playing it on the Wii anyhow and the wiimote features give the game a few more positives since Suda uses them very creatively.  Why would you lose some of the stuff that makes the actual game good?

The gameplay systems in NMH are not very good.  The game is fun because the wacky jappy Suda51 story direction/cutscenes/events and because the wacky Suda51 wiimote uses.  I'd think the gameplay would be really boring on a classic controller.  And it's not like the wiimote controls in NMH were uncomfortable or anything.

It just doesn't look particularly impressive as a 360/PS3 game.  Still looks too much like "Wii 720P," which is what I guess it is anyway.  I'll think about checking the game out when more details become available, but since NMH was kind of boring, I doubt I'll get it again, especially with the sequel coming.  Would have preferred NMH2 getting the upgrade treatment instead.  This is like the opposite of CoD4 getting ported to Wii two years after the console and PC versions.

It also makes me think I should hold off on NMH2 Wii and see if next-gen versions get announced later.  But I'm a sucker and will probably get it.  Same as Samurai Warriors 3.

because while the controls weren't uncomfortable they still weren't better than what I would expect the game to play like on a normal controller with camera control.  I don't think the waggle controls added much.  The final slash you do when an arrow pops up is satisfying to pull off, but so is shooting an enemy in the head in RE5.  The act of waggling during that part had nothing to do with that satisfaction.  MadWorld (and Tenchu 4, and a lot of other Wii games) try to do similar moves that feel dull because the same actions don't have that visual/audio event after pulling it off that makes it satisfying.  It would be just as satisfying to pull off those moves with a button press.  And waggling to recharge isn't wacky, it's just really lame, just as it would have been if it was mashing a button.  The motorcycle waggling to do sharp turns was also lame, as was everything in the open world segment.  The only neat thing was changing stance by tilting it up or down, but that same effect could be accomplished by pressing different buttons just like how most action games have it be.

You guys are a crazy bunch of Suda fans.  I don't understand how someone who digs Suda's style and what he tries to do can like 1 game and not like the other.

I like all his games.  Killer 7, NMH, Samurai Champloo, even Blood+ was decent.  I couldn't get into Flower, Sun Rain on the DS (probably cause my used cartridge smelled like cigarettes [maybe intentional?]) but I wouldn't write it off either; I know people who loved it on PS2.

Suda uses the game medium as an art form and also he doesn't seem to give a fuck about the video"game" part, since they all play pretty shitty  :lol  He's pushing the medium the way very few designers do.  Though his games play like simple series 2000 titles, I'd put him up there with Kojima and Ueda because he tries to make a videogame more than just a game.

His composer is also fuck awesome.

Killer 7 isn't a game.  It's a fairly experimental product that doesn't have many peers in gaming.  NMH has crap gameplay, story, sidemissions, characters, etc. and is definitely for chubby Americans with loli pillows whose goal in life is to be an English teacher in Japan.

Seriously. Whether you love it or hate it, there's NOTHING like K7 in gaming.

Tenchu 4 plays so much better on the PSP.  It's easily the definitive version of the game.

I know, I own it on the Wii and PSP.  The only thing the Wii version has over the PSP one is that the water is transparent.

No More Heroes + 360 = Love.

Anyone played Flower, Sun and Rain? Worth £8 off Amazon? I'm not one of those people that minds when games don't have much actual gameplay in them, which I'm guessing is the basis for the shit reviews.

I read some review a long time ago of the PS2 version.  Supposedly the game was amazing for its time.  But yeah when I tried it on DS it didn't seem to have held up.  I didn't make it an hour into the game :\

i tried flower sun and rain for the ds,basicaly each day someone has lost something and it's your job to wander around to find it which basicaly involve wandering around and talking to people and occasionaly solving a puzzle where you have to guess a numeric password (at the start of the game you are given a guide to the island and most of the time it's where you find your answer, for example a barman asks you to make a drink so you search up that drink in your guide and then input the quantity of ingredient used as a password) the game also gives you optional objective with an item hunt sidequest,of course when you find the item you need to solve YET another puzzle where you have to guess another numeric password

so basicaly in the end it kinda plays like professor layton, only the story makes no sense, you always solve the same kind of puzzle, there are no charming 2D illustration around and it's so damn sloooooooooow and boring

at least it features a very kick ass remix of rhapsody in blue

Only thirteen games so far have received perfect scores. They are listed in chronological order:

   1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998, Nintendo, for Nintendo 64)
   2. Soulcalibur (1999, Namco, for Dreamcast)
   3. Vagrant Story (2000, Square Co., Ltd., for PlayStation)
   4. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003, Nintendo, for Nintendo GameCube)
   5. Nintendogs (2005, Nintendo, for Nintendo DS)
   6. Final Fantasy XII (2006, Square Enix, for PlayStation 2)
   7. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008, Nintendo, for Wii)
   8. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (2008, Konami, for PlayStation 3)
   9. 428: Fūsa Sareta Shibuya de (2008, Sega, for Wii)
  10. Dragon Quest IX (2009, Square Enix, for Nintendo DS)

  12. Bayonetta (2009, Sega, for Xbox 360)

Eh, if you don't like jailbird Cody, you can always use whatever alternate look they give him.  My bet is on it being the classic Final Fight look.

it's like you can see them becoming more corrupt in this list.  Or at least making some dumb publicity move by encouraging more 40s.

I still cannot believe that Nintendo Dogs and 428 (a digital novel) got 40/40 from Famitsu.  Also that the first game to ever get 40/40 was a title released in 1998.

I know. Famitsu has been around since 1986. They went TWELVE YEARS before giving out their first 40/40. And then, in a span of two years, they've given out SEVEN 40/40 scores. SEVEN!
