Singing the Depeche Mode tracks is a ton of fun. I'm even ranked #1 at the moment, but that will probably last all of five mintues. :lol

You're assuming people bought Rock Band 3! Now that DLC is not backward-compatible with RB1 and 2, I'm guessing the DLC leaderboards are tinier.

I caved and bought Rock Band 3. Check out Blockbuster if you still have one around you. They've got it marked down to $9.99 used. Couldn't pass that up.  :lol Too bad I subsequently went home and spent $25 on DLC   :(

I don't know if any of you Rock Band fans are internet radio users, but Harmonix is streaming just about everything the Rock Band games have featured. Surprisingly, this includes The Beatles stuff as well as songs from RB1, 2, and 3, and the DLC.

Had a party tonight, Rock Band 3 was trotted out. Couldn't figure out how to get ALL the parts going, for 7 players total, but we did get 3 vocalists, 1 guitar player, 1 keyboard-er, and 1 drummer all going at once. FINALLY unlocked the "Bohemian As It Was Meant to Be" Challenge met.

There is nothing more fun than Rock Band to play at a party. RB3 even makes it easier for people to join in or drop out. So much fun.

The game technically won't let you play with guitar, bass, drums, vox and keys. The vocals don't score if you do all four instruments plus mics. I heard someone say it had something do with the input limits on the 360, but who knows if that's just fanboy wankery.

That actually sounds about right. The system only has four slots for registering controllers, as displayed on the Ring of Light™ -- so I suspect drums + keyboard + bass + guitar are your four.

Coincidentally, a loading menu hint popped up saying that you can "disconnect the vocalist's controller to play with the full seven players," but since I'm mainly trying to score vocals, it's not ideal.

Then again, there's no way to log in multiple singers for the harmony Challenges and Achievements, so even if you get three players together to sing, you have to do everything for each player in turn.  :maf

Yep, that happened to us one night when we had a ton of people over to play RB3. It's even more annoying if you own a PS3 that can actually accept more than four controller inputs. Way to go, Harmonix.

I was trying to figure out why RB3 wasn't counting online band scores toward Band Challenges, and now it makes some sense. Maybe. I've not played online, so I don't know if online also limits to four players, or if you can get the full seven, but if the latter case is true, it would really mess up the scoring and skew the leaderboards.

HMX also did all that web portal integration this time, so they'd have to level the playing field for both platforms. That said, HMX also apparently has a history of not supporting the PS3 very well; doesn't the SingStar microphone fail to be recognized?

I think so, but I don't have Singstar so I can't confirm it.

OK, wtf: I'm trying for the Friends Say It's Good Achievement, for 20th Century Boy vocals on Expert. I've ninety-nine-percented several times. There have been a couple times where I finished it, was convinced I'd nailed it, and the final screen shows 99%.  :(

Last night I was trying it from the Goals menu, so it actually displays the 100% onscreen from the outset of the game. I was on the 5th or 5th line, had a 4X multiplier, when I sang a line which gives me a lot of trouble. It registered as full, showed "AWESOME" and kept my 4X multiplier, but the percentage dropped to "99%" -- THAT'S UNPOSSIBLE.

Does anyone know the skinny on Vocal scoring? How does this work?

Well, that fact aside, it's a question of scoring -- you don't keep your multiplier unless you get a full-pie, "Awesome" result. That's full, so why do I lose a percentage point? It just happened again right now. I'm fucking irate.

I asked about this on the official RockBand.com forum, and apparently this is a little-known feature of the scoring system. For some reason, the game will let you keep your multiplier if you're over 98.6% in "filling the pie." That's still less than 100% though, so it dings you on the overall completion percentage.

a bunch of modders have been updating the GHWT songs for RB3 format, meaning, proper pro drums, correct charts that aren't buggy, lip syncing, good lighitng and animation. It's amazing and really really well done.

https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvcxElkuqaDZdDZBWkUyV2taS3dabXZ5d0k5b0U3S0E&hl=en_US&authkey=COXHgtwH#gid=5

theres the list of songs done so far and the planned ones. Really easy to install custom songs into RB3 on a non hacked console. All you need is a USB stick and follow these instructions:

1. Copy Rock Band 3 Song Cache to Memory Stick
2. Download the custom from that spreadsheet
3. Download USBXTAFGUI
4. Drag and drop the song into the folder where Rock Band 3 Song Cache is

you're done.

theres a Beatles export too so you can play the Beatles in RB3 also, but they're glitchy as fuck as in they have no animations but they do have pro drums support (harmonix programmed them with pro drums but didn't put the feature in Beatles RB). And of course all the customs you can play, all of this without having to hack your 360 or running the chance of being banned

I've been playing Rock Band since the first one, pretty much every day at lunch, at work. I have one other guy who plays along. Other people have occasionally joined, but mainly it has just been the two of us. With the end of my job, the era of our lunchtime sessions has ended, so that friend came over a mi casa to wrap up a few unfinished things.

Finally finished the ironically apt "Big in Japan" achievement for Rock Band 1; that makes all of them: All those tedious "played every concert at every venue" Achievement. I didn't hate them, but I am glad that they never made another appearance.

He knocked out some drum cheevos, on 1, 2, and 3.

We tried to get 3's "Face Melter" cheevo, but it turns out that no one considers Def Leppard's Pyromania to be "metal" - :lol Apparently the exported AC/DC tracks will work.

I can't believe how many hours we have sunk into this game, and how much fun it still is.

Rock Band Blitz is proving more compelling, as I continue to invest time in it. It's pretty much impossible for me to get Gold Stars in all the songs, but I may eventually get 5-Star ratings on all of them. It's a lot of fun to try various power-up combinations to get the best mix for any given song.

I never played Frequency or Amplitude, so all this is new to me.

I finished Rock Band Blitz a little while ago. It's the first RB game I was able to completely finish, because I suck at drums. Not that I'm much on Expert Guitar, either. But finishing RBB was quite a challenge; some of the songs are quite hard to Gold Star.

Today a friend from my previous-previous company is coming over to play some RB; I'm stoked!
