I have no clue. I think you probably need some unlockable technique first. I pointed this out in the other thread too. There's no downside to doing it but it's annoying that they don't describe it better, or give some kind of hint. Not quite NG Mission Mode, is it...

demi - don't worry too much about finding them; very soon (after the Bael fight) you will have a new ability that makes your Devil Bringer light up whenever you're near something of interest.

Can I go to previous levels with all these skills, like DMC1? Cause I'll just beat it normally, then go back for Secret Missions and all that shit

you'd think so, seeing as there is achivements for unlocking all of a certain characters moves (or so I have assessed)

generally you cant max out a character from one playthrough in the other DMC games (at least I never did), it would be mean to not be able to redo levels

but I havent played the game, dont listen to me

Gave the demo a swirl. Hmmm. The controls are pretty much perfect for me on the 360. I'm totally fine the LB and RB buttons.

Can someone tell me if the final game fixes these issues I have with the combat in the full game? I'll be playing on Devil Bringer mode btw.

Nero's interesting, but he's definitely not my style. Then again, this is based on the demo. He's interesting though. I like the Devil Bringer platforming, and it'd be interesting to see it in full effect in the game. My problem with it, at least in the demo, is that it is so easily exploitable. Right when I learned the RB + B attack that lets Nero grab any enemy could be easily exploitable if Capcom doesn't balance the game right.

I learned a neat combo trick: Knock up enemy in the air -> jump -> jump off of enemy's back for extra air -> do a few shots with your gun -> let the enemy hit the ground, target him and then grab him in mid air -> do a few slashes -> touch the ground -> taunt -> repeat.

By doing this the Marionettes never had the chance to touch me since I was in the air most of the time, and plus, with the d.b. you can grab pretty much any enemy in your vicinity right? Hmmm. It seems great for comboing, at least. I wonder if enemies in the full game punish you for using such an exploit.

I hate timed demos. Haven't fought the boss yet, still trying out various combos and such. I've gotten to A so far. Haven't managed to get to S yet, but then again, the last time the demo stopped on me Marionettes kept coming and coming, so I can see myself getting at least an S next time.

Wish I had money for the full game. =/

The timed demo basically goes

town -> lower bridge -> snowy area -> berial

once you make it to the bridge, you can just go do the other demo

Nero is pretty decent. The Devil Bringer is pretty cool and a great way to build up combos/impress your friends. My only real complaints about Nero is as far as I know, he doesn't get the cool weapons like Dante does which is hilariously dumb and the Blue Rose is just awful and feels like it does NOTHING.

As a whole DMC4 is a solid game. The only sad part is that I payed $60 for the game and by years end I'll probably need to buy a SE to play as Dante whole game. Unless however capcom does DLC for it.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
His Devil Bringer is like the new QTE. Expect Bionic commando to do some goofy shit like in the Berial fight.

Ninja Gaiden redeemed!  The Buster is this game's flying swallow.  Listen Cohen, I could go through the game killing the grunts with two hits and the white knights easily with their own shivs again and again...but that's distinguished mentally-challenged and not the way to play the game.  I hope you realize how distinguished mentally-challenged your arguement now is.

the difference between the flying swallow and nero's buster -- if in fact it's as universally applicable as drewsy thinks -- is that ninja gaiden's scoring is based on speed while dmc's scoring is based on combo variety. ninja gaiden offers an incentive to abuse flying swallow, dmc offers a disincentive to abuse any one move

I played the beginning of this before getting into Culdcept, and I have to say I was a bit hard on the demo.  I can tell this going to be a blast, and even if I don't play it for as long as I did DMC3, I am sure I will enjoy it a lot.  Any word on how many frustrating choke points the game has, ie annoying bosses and the like.

Eh, this just feels like more of the same.  When there's already so many better games released that I haven't even played, I don't really feel like spending $60 on this.  This seems like a good $29 to $39 game.

the combat's great, but the 'puzzle' and 'exploration' and 'platforming' elements are painful, and there seems to be more of that stuff than ever. i don't want to say how long it took me to figure out that stupid room with the spikes and the blue grabby points. i <3 capcom, but i swear they have some kind of collective learning disability

but I see what you're saying.

He's not specifically talking about final score. In order to max your red orb count, you need to SSS like every major setpiece. You can't do that by abusing the buster.

The platforming is pretty ass. You can't move Nero in the air when he's falling. That's so wtf. And the puzzle with the spinning blade things was torturous. This is definitely a Capcom game.

I just beat the same boss. I think it's pretty cool you get style points for dodging attacks.

Combo variety is but one variable in determining the final score.  Clear time is also a factor.

From what I played of the demo, this will be like Ratchet and Clank for PS3, polished but more of the same...for fans. Luckily I am at least more of a fan of DMC than Ratchet and Clank.

I think that is an adequate comparison point.

Also, the cut scenes generally don't seem as fun.  They have their moments, but like DMC3's cutscenes didn't take themselves seriously at all.  I am guessing now that DMC is TEH ANIMU they had to alter their approach.

Yes,indeed.Hmmm, just don't leave the castle, when you see more lasers and the time control thing, you're going the right way.

Once you leave the room, keep going down, down the elavator, down the stairs, until you reach the main corridor with the lasers on the floor. Then go north, you'll be outside with the bridge that was blocked by the plant, cross it and there you go.
