In general? You have to think when dealing with moderators, they are people that have a chunk of their life so available to edit/ban members, so most of them don't have much of a life in the first place. I just notice this goes on a lot with *certain* forums, wherever you go.
One of the more ridiculous forums I goto is a fan forum for the Cincinnati Reds, where you have a "regular" forum you have to apply to get approved for when you have enough posts, qualify for it, have good posts, or whatever the hell they decide matters to get approved. Funny thing is, there's no difference whatsoever in the two forums. They closed down the game thread forum just because people were bitching in the game threads too much apparently, as if closing them down makes the team any less shitty.
I don't understand moderators. Most have no life, so are on all the forums constantly, and when you're on something all the time, you're bound to be annoying by any little thing that you don't like. Some people need to learn the benefits of laissez faire approach.
