it's just different strokes, Drinky. Whereas I like non-games and find playing RPGs to be akin to sticking hot, rusty nails into my peepee hole, you're the exact opposite.

We can still make out though!  :-*

If there's anything I wish Nintendo did more at these kiosks, it would be a full featured demo disc that gave a preview of all the various features the Nintendo Wii could possibly accomplish with this new form of control. One of which, that would be perfect for the occasion, would be a Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Tokyo Game Show fishing demo. They should have a demo for the most interesting features at the kiosks, and I don't understand why Nintendo went solely with Excite Truck.

They should have had WarioWare available for this function, it's such a perfect match.

Went back to Gamestop and played some more. Because I knew the controls , I just started playing, but this time I played extremely well. After putting more time into that Excite Truck demo, it's definitely something to watch out for imo, as the game is fun as hell.

One main thing was different this time: the crowd. The first time I played, it was lunch time and no one was around. This time, it was night time, after school, and a lot of people who just walked by were interested enough to go in the store and watch. I garnered quite a crowd, and a lot of the people around me acted like they were going to snatch the damn remote from my hands.

"You play it side ways? AW SHIT IT'S AN NINTENDO OLD SCHOOL CONTROLLER!!!"

"This is something new! I'm going to check this out."

"The graphics are plain but it looks so fun!"

I was pretty surprised. I wonder what would happen if Nintendo had set up Wii sports along side Excite Truck.

It's like you guys don't even want to like Wii or it's idea. You guys aren't even worth the trouble discussing games with, because your biased philosophies make talking games here a chore.

Instead of actually having any salt in your arguments, it's like  your only reason to dislike Wii is because it's Nintendo.

if the Gamecube had the 360's hardware, a standard controller, and better reliability, I'd declare it my OFFICIAL CHOICE FOR THE NEW GENERATION.

However, buying the Gamecube all over again bugs the fuck out of me, and my experiences with waggle have been uniformly negative.

The Gamecube had fuck all as far as internet capability, whereas the Wii is fucking Internet City, I guess

This whole bitching about paying more for the same thing is really a tired complaint; $600 for the same fucking games with prettier graphics isn't some fucking bullshit?

The Wii's internet feature set is pretty sad next to the 360 and XBL or the PS3 equivalent.

I don't expect to play "the same fucking games with prettier graphics" -- I expect the sort of improvement and innovation that comes with an exponential increase in RAM and processing power.

So what're ya getting that fits that requirement on the PS3 and/or the 360? "improvement and innovation", I mean. Other than prettier things that look nice on expensive teevees.

I'm not sold on the reality of either system yet, based on their current launch libraries, but at least they have POTENTIAL.

I wanna see some real strides in interactive environments, emergent AI, and more PC-style genres. The PS2 era made huge leaps over the PSOne with the addition of more processing horsepower. The 88 MB RAM of the Wii is gonna be a massive limitation in a year or two.

What experience with "waggle" exactly? If you had actually used to remote you would be in the minority, as most people have had nothing but good comments about it.

So please do tell about your many many moments with the wonderful waggle stick.

Gee, given that I live in Redmond, have a brother that's a former employee of Nintendo and a friend that currently *is* an employee of them: DO THE VIKING MATH.

I've played the early Zelda build, Wii Sports, and Excitetruck. I felt the games would be quite a bit more fun and precise with a standard controller, except for Wii Sports which was just fucking stupid and wretched all around.

so what kinda examples do you want? About the games themselves? Sure.

Zelda: Pointing was sketchy. It used the A button to slash at the time, but I imagine waggling to slash is doubly irritating. I hated the fact that I couldn't control the camera like I could in WW, because it sucked.

Excitetruck: it felt like a downgraded Burnout with floaty controls and where I couldn't drift/powerslide. It felt really janky -- I just wanted to use a damn analog stick for some fuckin' PRECISION already.

Wii Sports: felt like a dumb bar novelty game. If you aren't doing dumb poses to amuse your friends while playing, then it's utterly worthless as a game -- and I don't need a game as stupid as that to entertain folks.

Funny, all the people playing Zelda now are having NO issues with it.

Also, Excite Truck controls fine, as it's the one piece of software I have tried, control took all of ten seconds to get the hang of.

BTW< I can make up impressions by reading message boards to.

While I think it may be novel enough to reinvigorate general "mainstream" interest in Nintendo as a game company, I'm definitely not convinced of the utility of the waggle.  My fear is, it's going to end-up being a seldom-used-well-but-frequently-shoehorned gimmick like the touchscreen on the DS, that ultimately I could do without.  Especially if doing without came with the benefit of an overall more powerful console.  Even so, it's cheap (I just bought a pair of boots more expensive), I'm an enormous Zelda fan, and there are some other Nintendo franchises I like, so I have a Wii preordered.

I also don't think Drinky has played the Wii.

Let the landslide begin folks!  You're gonna hear a lot of that real soon.  All these peeps who talk of "waiting til game X is released" are gonna come to their senses and realize waiting gains them nothing but waiting.  You're not gonna see a price drop for at least a year.  Maybe even longer.
