I'm on the 3rd Chapter right now and while I really like a lot of the changes made to the combat system the level design so far really took a hit for the worst. The two levels I've finished go on for far too long and you are constantly fighting the same groups of enemies over and over. No more is the tightly woven design of the first game or the pacing of enemies change ups. Maybe it will improve but at the moment I'm not feeling it. Even the 3rd Chapter doesn't seem much different in design than the last two. It's probably because all the stages so far take place during the night and all have a similar color scheme to them. The variety feels very thin right now.
Also the camera does seem worse than the first game. In the first game the only time I really had a problem with the camera was the first chapter. In this one I seem to be fighting it all the time, especially since the amount of enemies attacking you at once has increased and all of them are throwing projectiles at you. The camera angle is a bit too low from Ryu and they don't give you much freedom to change it with the right stick.
what are you talking about. The first two chapters of Ninja Gaiden you're mostly fighting the same people. In the first chapter, you're fighting ninjas in green or whatever. The second chapter, you really only fight Black Spider Clan ninjas, and the guys on horses halfway through the chapter. If anything, NG2's first two chapters are far more varied in terms of enemies; in the first chapter you fight black spider ninjas who use traditional ninja melee, and ninjas who use ninpo, AND archers. In the second chapter, you fight those guys, ninja dogs, AND the boss from the first chapter who comes with his own minions.
Further more, the level design is probably better in the first two chapters in NG2 than the first two in NG1. NG2's first chapter isn't mostly easy if you're an NG vet, but it has everything you really need in an NG level: little to no puzzle solving, occasional platforming, teaching the players the ropes of all the skills they've acquired thus far, and just plain being a good ol blood bath. The second chapter increases all of this ten fold, and is way harder than NG1's second chapter. The mid boss alone makes it better.
So basically, what the hell are you talking about?
