This was pretty much my dream for Wii, to be a haven for 2D games due to low development costs and a desire to "simplify". Never expected it to come true... My only dream now is for a big 2D RPG to come out on the thing.

Totally.  And on PSN, XBLA and Steam with the ability to trade levels online in a youtube like way.  Basically LBP, but Mega Man.

I don't know if I really like what Capcom is doing.  Unlike with SF4 where they are recreating SF2 with hot 3D graphics and smooth animations and tweaks galore, this looks to be another one of the MM 1-6 games again.  If I wanted to play an 8-bit Mega Man game, I have 6 of them to play.  If they managed to make it either like SF4/BCR or Wario Land, that would have been awesome, but just a throw back for 8-bitz fanz to wank to is a bit lame considering fans have been waiting 10+ years for this game.  Hopefully it turns up good, but right now I am just assuming it will be at the level of some rom hack of Mega Man 6.

Exactly my thinking. This should have been an update in the vein of Pac-Man CE or Space Invaders Extreme. But what we have hear is something I'd argue is far more ballsy.

I do - but I also think this is Capcoms biggest heist in years....

No doubt they will just make new 8bit palettes for characters and stage blocks and somehow sell it for $30.
