The whole damn episode was brilliant, but it was kicking into overdrive at the end. I knew it was going to end any moment, but they kept drawing it out... and then it's done.

You just know that episode 2 is going to get delayed...

how is it going to get delayed?

A 6 month wait isn't enough to shatter your will already?

I don't know how, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Those fucks at Bandai Visual/Sunrise.... the preview for episode 2 is nothing but a picture of Full Frontal grinning....

Also, I watched the Gundam 00 movie trailer... the animation quality is no better than the TV series and looks like crap compared to the absolutely breathtaking Unicorn.

you want to talk about delay, let's talk about Hellsing OAV and how they are stalled now at the BEST PART because they don't know how they can ANIMATE THE BEST PART in ep8 because it's too crazy and expensive to animate.

Apparently ep8 will never come out :(

I don't think Bandai or anyone in the industry or fans of the industry really care if anyone downloads anime or buys it.

That ship sailed about 10 years ago.  Companies don't expect their viewers to actually pay for their anime.  If they do it's a bonus.

I've got a huge shelf with 500+ anime DVDs, all bought legally, and a Netflix account which I routinely rent anime from, so don't waltz in here and look down your nose at me. If Gundam Unicorn was on DVD, I'd rent it and watch it, since it ain't I'll settle for watching it with my brother on his Bluray player.

Here is my problem with it-- Unicorn is $34.99 on Blu-Ray, for one (long) episode.  I can get entire anime TV series on Blu-Ray for $38-$40.  Price this stuff better and I will buy, animu companies; it's getting to the point now where HD rips are out before the domestic releases.

And PLEASE tell me Gundam Unicorn doesn't go for 6000 yen in Japan.  PLEASE.   :lol

I'm an uber Gundam fan, so I'd frankly pay whatever they were asking. I don't think Bandai is looking to sell a lot of these, it's clearly a niche product.

El Cazador de la Bruja

Half of one episode in and I'm already having flashbacks. The dull realism of the animation, the flat look of the backgrounds, the languid direction, the gunslinger female protagonist that's a bit older, the emotionless girl with a powerful secret that's a bit younger, the smirking antagonist who's evil for evil's sake, the secretive organizations that control things from behind the scenes, and secret plot to control the world. Yes, this is the same guy and the company that produced Noir and Madlax.

honestly, my original plan was to watch the downloaded versions, then wait for a boxset.  This is until I saw the first episode and knew that this is something I will watch often enough that the premium is worth it.

Renting doesn't make much sense for me when there's very little I'm even interested in. I'll support stuff through legal means like Crunchyroll, or I'll just buy it.

I bought a TON of anime in the early to mid 90s, but lately, it's all shit. Pure unadulterated shit.

Watched Unicorn.

The mecha action animation & direction was really excellent.  As mecha porn this OAV will be amazing.  Really is F91/CCA movie quality action.
The non-mecha animation and direction was really average, kinda weird the disparity between the two.  But I guess if I had "x" amount of money and was making a GUNDAM show I'd probably put it all into the mecha scenes as well  :lol

The story was alright.  Kinda typical gundam opening.  What's up with the Londo Bell though?  Is Bright actually in this show even though his seiyuu is gone?  I'm guessing since we saw the captain and it wasn't him, the answer is no?

Also Full Frontal is THE WORST VILLAIN NAME EVER.  I mean really?

Watched it a 2nd time directly after.  Liked it a lot more the 2nd time!
The way they rushed the first 20 mins of the ep makes it a lot more enjoyable when you know exactly what is happening in each scene.

Tried BD-Live for the first time ever.  Kinda clunky but it works.  The 00 Movie trailer was terrible.  The animation and art is so much worse than Unicorn it just looks lolz.  Plus I'm like ugh, I don't like these characters!  >_<

I wonder if they're going to do a Gundam TV series in the fall or next spring to capitalize on the interest in Unicorn and 00 Movie.

I think Unicorn is just what I need to get me in the Gundam mood again so I can finally finish V, the only Gundam I still haven't seen.

I'm playing N1's Zettai Hero and I was surprised that Baccano! & Durarara!! have their own dungeons in the game with characters from the series as cameos (and when you beat them you can play as their sprites).  Kind of awesome since I love Baccano.  Also has Kino no Tabi, Boogiepop Phantom and a bunch of a others.

Railgun is such a bland show, I wish I'd dumped it after the first few episodes. INSTEAD, I stuck with it hoping that it would get good as the series progressed. It didn't, and by the time I finally accepted this fact I was already more than halfway through and so I felt obliged to finished it up.

Railgun's probably better than Kampfer, it's at least got a decent budget, nice looking backgrounds, and some interesting ideas. Too bad all of that's almost completely wasted except for three short story arcs that might amount to a third of the series. The rest is just slice-of-life fluff.

Someone already ripped and fansubbed the TV series (really, really well, too), but I will probably get this.  Is that $49.99 for 12 episodes of an old-ass 80's series on DVD though?  What the fuck are they thinking?

You can preorder both for $37 each at TSRI's website. Also, there's a sale today:
