as tnr points out, the repubs like liberals better when they're being their usual hand-wringing, self-doubting selves. to them, any sign of liberal enthusiasm and wholehearted support is disturbing, because it must be cult-think. unless it's offered in support of bush junior, or O HOLY GIPPER, of course. no-one's made any gold busts of obama yet, or called him "God's agent in the war between good and evil" though -- maybe that's what moves aimless optimistic adoration beyond messiah worship and into the realms of practical religion? i dunno! help me apf!
