Again, what year is this?  :wtf It's like something out of an old western, in which the town villain would rally the grunts against them "bad" (good, really) people. What's next, accuse Michelle Obama of being a voodoo priestess?

As for the Ayers deal, how many Americans enjoying today's American culture would hand to their hearts honestly disagree with the positive ripple effects of radical actions taken decades ago? Of course, these people seem to believe that the answer to everything is in the past, which is just plain ridiculous. There is this really romantic and bananas fucked up idea of what the world and the nation was like 40-50 years ago.

can you imagine how the right wing/media in general would have responded if Obama's daughter was preggers? Assuming of course that she was 16

ROFLCOPTER LANDING :lol

The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, a non-profit, non-partisan veterans group composed of those who have fought in the nation's current wars, released its report cards Tuesday on those in Congress who they feel serve new veterans the best.

Washington's two U.S. senators, Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, both Democrats, each received top grades, A-pluses, for supporting nine of nine votes the IAVA considered pro-veteran, with extra points awarded for joining in sponsoring the post-9/11 GI Bill.

They did better than the two senators running for president.

U.S. Sen Barak Obama, D-Ill, the Democratic presidential nominee, received a good grade, a "B," from the organization.

U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the Republican presidential nominee received an unsatisfactory "D."

:lol

(Biden also got a "B")

Obama is doing a good job playing the game, considering that one side is apparently playing the game without any rules and limitations. If this had taken place where I grew up, Palin would have been arrested for inciting the masses by now.

I thought it was absolutely ridiculous that Cindy McCain vilified Obama for voting against the troop funding bill - so did her husband two months later!

Sily Willco, supporting Veterans isn't what matters when supporting the troops! What matters is that you're a Republican! Oh, and it also helps if you got yourself out of service and/or failed so badly at it that you crashed multiple plans. That's what it means to Support the Troops!

They are some pretty ridiculous people. I wasn't a big fan of Bush, but I never felt as sickened by him as I do this group. And for all the evils of Cheney, at least he represents a competent form of nasty.

In an interview on ABC News, Sen. Barack Obama called Sen. John McCain's attempts to link him to 1960s anti-war radical Bill Ayers are an attempt to "score cheap political points."

Then he issued a challenge to his rival.

Said Obama: "I am surprised that, you know, we've been seeing some pretty over-the-top attacks coming out of the McCain campaign over the last several days, that he wasn't willing to say it to my face. But I guess we've got one last debate. So presumably, if he ends up feeling that he needs to, he will raise it during the debate."
http://politicalwire.com/

Exactly what needs to be said. McCain is hiding behind women - Palin and Cindy - who are making the most outrageous attacks of this political season. He truly is a fucking coward.

Support the troops, by not voting for the new GI Bill!  It makes perfect sense!  Giving these troops new benefits is just want the terrorists want!

Giving the troops benefits will only presuade them into retiring from the military and going on with their lives/education. And if that happens how are we suppose to fight our 5 new wars in planning? Next thing you know these terrorist loving liberal pussies will want to override the upcoming draft!

Andrews, Ayers wasn't just a "radical." And the action of these "radicals," like the Weathermen bombings of the late 60's and early 70s, didn't have a positive affect. If anything, it probably caused more people to support Nixon, who lumped all protesters in with groups like the Weathmen.

That's fair enough, I'm not particularly familiar with that group or their actions. But revisionist history tends to paint all non-government policing actions as exclusively negative for progress, and a surprising amount of people seem to adhere to that account of history. At one point, the remarkably peaceful demonstrations of the current war (I think there was considerable more property and personal damage dealt in nations that were not directly affected by the war than there was here) was referred to civil unrest similar to the abhorrent student actions of the 60s. Actions that basically broke through the wall of total control and spawned a culture for an age bracket that had up until that point been seen as the 'be quiet and learn to grow old' year.

But, this group may have been genuinely bad news, I don't know. But I'm constantly surprised over the reactions to pretty serious issues here. With the odd exception of African Americans who tend to go for tipping over their own neighborhoods when they get angry, or college students who have had drinking rights revoked on campus and summarily go for tipping the nearest cars over, people tend to not cause much of a public stink about anything. In a way, it's admirable, but it is a little bit strange.

But hey, on the other hand, people are publicly calling for people to lose their heads, so hey. I guess while riots are out, lynchings are in.

Honestly, I think you're being a revisionist historian. The protests and civil unrest of the sixties is often looked back upon romantically. But there's a world of difference between peaceful civil disorder--hell even riots--and planting fuckin' bombs.

But hey, on the other hand, people are publicly calling for people to lose their heads, so hey. I guess while riots are out, lynchings are in.

Some random douche from a crowd yelling that out isn't exactly a public call to lynch. And what does this have to do with whether the Weathermen were a positive influence on America, as you implied.

Action, as opposed to the toothless public launching toothless petitions into the system it is petitioning against. Or expecting others to do the job for them, as is so common with demands of media to do this or that. Not that the guy would actually call for someone to lose his head outside of the riled up safety of a riled up group of likedminded people, but hey.

Why praise action when that action included the bombings of police stations, actions which are not going to get you much  public sympathy, and are not going to help your broader cause.

I can agree with that it'd be counter-efficient to go after police (the direct action protest groups I'm familiar with would not do this), but how many infractions of civil liberty was the police itself responsible for during those years? It wasn't exactly a balanced time, was it? I would never defend a bombing, but when people are face to face with a system that is brutally unbalanced, people may easily slip to the side of drastic action, typically representing the tip of the issue. But, as said, that may be irrelevant to the motives actions taken by this group. I'll shut up about the weathermen until I've read more about them.

On a related note though, shouldn't this resonate well with the compound-having, gun-toting, my foot on the state's snake-head extreme right?

How exactly does Huckabee fit into the Republican mold? Maybe he's more sinister than it'd appear, but he strikes me as a pretty down to earth person. Sometimes, it feels like the Republican party is a multi-party system all in itself.

How can anyone actually be so fucking dumb as to think that the man is a terrorist? I mean, for fuck's sake.  :punch

At this point, I almost want the other side to make a stink about the secessionist affair. Almost, but not really. That's the very basic power of reason that kicks in right there, something these nutters just seem to be lacking altogether.

"Just think about it, look at the name"

Indeed, girlfriend. Think about it.

Ughhhh

UGHHHH

Whenever I go back to my hometown I'm subjected to constant interrogations about why I support Obama.

"OMG WHYY??  AREN'T YOU SCARED OF HIM?  HIS MIDDLE NAME IS HUSSEIN!  HE'S GOING TO RAISE EVERYONE'S TAXES!  HE'S BLACK!"

I shit you not, this is an exact quote.

Well, within my acquired family, I've heard everything about Obama, from him being an atheist to him being Muslim to him being an atheist Muslim, all mentioned in whispers of dislike. And all ways of bypassing their real issue with him, which is that he's black, "young" and a little bit too clever.

This complete disregard for whether or not its comments, arguments and apparent beliefs actually make sense is basically what keeps the Republican party from just imploding or vaporizing in a cloud of disbelief; There is seemingly no interest in reason, and arguments are "won" by out-shouting the voice of the opposition. It's like a political comedy, except it's actually real and accepted politics. Quite remarkable.

Huckafuck is really religious but is also a populist. So he's the odd duck that every likes but no one would ever vote for.

Looking at some of the comments on that YouTube video, apparently they're dropping the middle name pretense and just calling him "Barack Hussein" now. Getting straight to the point, I guess.

Also, "ScottfromTexas" is making sure to remind people that the White Man is being oppressed by voter registration groups and welfare, and that all the white people will be enslaved by "King Obongo."
