I sell the Dead - horrible.  totally failed to be even an entertaining trainwreck

:'( I had this lined up to watch this coming weekend. Disappointing.

Will large amounts of beer make it watchable/passably entertaining?

probably not

it was just so boring

it's not clever or original which is fine, but it's not really done well either.

Danny Trejo just did an interview, and good golly, that man is amazing.  Doesn't have a mean word to say about anybody, and he knows how to properly rob a bank.
Quote from: Danny the Knife
"What does an armed-robbery consultant do?"

You just make it look real. You show somebody how to hold a gun. You show somebody how to walk into a bank. You show somebody how to take control. Everybody has an idea of what an armed robbery is supposed to be, and the reality is, you have to scare people up until a point. If you scare them too much, you will lose control, because they will freak out. That’s the last thing you want. So some people will come in, “All right, you motherfuckers! Everybody get up against the fucking…” and it’s like, “Dude, they’re going to blow. You understand what I’m saying?” But if you walk up to somebody and say, “Look, I’ve got a gun, and if you make one move, I’ll kill you.” All of a sudden, they take that in, okay, they’ve taken that into their senses, and they’re saying, “I better not move.”
Quote from: The Trejo
This guy’s 80. Anybody over 40 is an older person. You better give them some respect.” So I just jacked this punk up and told him, “You know what, bitch? I’ll beat your ass. I nominated him director. Now fuck you. Do whatever he says.” This guy looks at me, almost starts crying, and says, “Hey, I’m trying to stay in character.” I was, “Well, your character’s about to get his ass beat.”

So then I turn around. Charles Bronson is standing right behind me, and he’s watching this. And the last thing you want anybody to see is that you could be violent on a movie set. I look at Charlie, and he saw what I was doing. But he says, “You know, Danny. I like the way you deal with people.”
Pretty damn cool.

Seriously.  I remember talking up Land of the Dead because I was convincing myself that he was going to amaze me with it because I had recently discovered Night, Dawn and Day.  So I dragged my mom, her boyfriend and my wife at the time.  Oh Jesus.  I felt so bad for making them endure that shit.

I thought Land was just a fluke.  I thought "everyone has their bad moments!"

Then I watched Diary and I laughed and laughed and laughed and cried.

When I first heard the premise of Survival I knew it would be shit.  He keeps going down the same path of crap.  I don't even know how he still keeps getting funding.  Wasn't Diary a huge flop?  I know Land made some money but hell, no one could look at Survival and think "Yeah, this is going to do well"

Ah.  Did not know that.  I guess maybe he found a good niche market.  I'm sure he'll find at least a dedicated group of people to see anything he puts out and as long as it has a low enough budget he'll be okay.

Robin Hood

Not the new one with Russel Crowe, I mean the old one with Errol Flynn. Talk about a fun, rousing adventure, because this is it. Nothing about this movie is serious or "gritty", it's all about Robin Hood and his band having fun adventures and pulling one over on the bad guys [Basil Rathbone is awesome as Sir Guy]. And it looks really good too, I was surprised that a movie over 70 years old could look that vibrant. Forget about that new Robin Hood movie, go get this masterpiece on Bluray instead, it even costs about the same amount of money!

Wikipedia says even Romero's release schedule is loco:
Quote
Survival of the Dead is a horror film by George A. Romero which follows the thieving National Guardsmen characters who briefly appeared in Diary of the Dead.[1] The film was first released on DVD in the UK on March 15, 2010.[2] That will be followed by a video on demand release on April 30, 2010[3], followed by a theatrical release on May 28, 2010.[4]

Crank 2

This is the most entertaining movie that you could possibly make without creating any story beyond one-liners.

"Did I drop some change or did I hear a chink?"

Milk

I liked it and felt that they handled the historical and political aspect pretty tastefully.  I was disappointed though when they suggested the popular myth of the twinkie defense to make the murders seem more random and hate-fueled.

Weekend At Bernies

It was on tv and all I knew was that it was supposed to be a really stupid 80's, comedy.  I was not disappointed.  It was easily so bad that it was good.

Boy by Taika Waititi

Made in New Zealand about a poor rural Maori family and a young boy who idolises Michael Jackson and his dad that ran away. Good humour if a little slapstick at times for the content (it's got some fairly serious themes).

edit: I think it's in theatres in America, not sure though, screened at sundance a while ago. He's fairly well known over there (affiliated with Flight of the Conchords and such).

People don't pay $12 a ticket to go see a Hulk movie where he cries about his daddy issues. They want to see Hulk smash shit.

actually 2008 Hulk only outgrossed 2003 Hulk by about 2 mil, and those weren't constant dollars.

It did do slightly better internationally, but really, one wasn't any more financially successful then the other.  Excepting of course if you measure a movie's success by how little it sucks (a fair metric), and in that category, I thought the Ang Lee Hulk was waaaaaaaaaay more successful then the competent but dunderheaded Leterrier Hulk.

I dunno, I think its always better for a film to suffer for having too much ambition rather then too little.

2008 Hulk is better then most big ticket action movies in that you can actually see the action.  The special effects are quite good and the whole thing flies by without insulting your intelligence too much.  Its a big, dumb, action movie that ablely entertains but is criminally devoid of personality, wit, or hell, a modicum of innovation.

I haven't seen Lee's Hulk in years and years, but I saw 2008 Hulk only fairly recently, guess which one I remember better?

2008 Hulk had a better story and villains so much better it shows how crap Ang Lee's version was.

Norton is also a better Banner.

Banner on the run trying to cure the Hulk and eventually trying to control it and focus it is so much better than Banner sitting at the dinner table crying about how his daddy didn't love him.

Abomination is like the Joker to the Hulk, the perfect villain for a Hulk movie, but the movie also had the origin of The Leader and set up Doc Samson.

Amazing movies. Will see Toy Story 3 in theatre for sure now.

Looks like Michael Caine shouldn’t get too comfy: According to an internally distributed e-mail at Warner Bros. the release date for the next Batman movie has been set for July 20, 2012. Of course, there are exactly zero new details beyond that to report, which is actually quite liberating; after all, now is the brief window when we can speculate wildly without facts getting in the way. Johnny Depp as The Riddler! Batgirl origin story! A plot where Batman goes on sabbatical and Alfred takes over as a bumbling detective!
