Its the most overrated movie I have ever seen in my entire life, some of it is pretty good but those moments are few and far between.

That's insane. The Graduate is like a John Hughes movie that predates John Hughes. It's amazing.

Back To The Future.

AMC Theaters were playing this at select locations over the weekend and today only.  They were showing the same digitally-remastered version that's included in the new DVD/blu-ray sets.  The theater gave out some prizes for some trivia shit before the film started...the hardest question was for the blu-ray and was "how much did gas cost in Hill Valley in 1995?"  The answer was 19 cents and one person got it right.  That's pretty crazy considering that the gas station is shown for just a few seconds in the movie!  They also gave out theatrical posters to everyone and copies of the "Save The Clocktower" flyer.

Good stuff.  Looking forward to getting the blu-ray later today so we can finished watching the trilogy for the billionth time and see Eric Stoltz as Marty.

Khan won't be the villain in Abrams Trek II. The "villain" is one of these five Classic Trek characters in addition to the Klingons:

Horta
Harry Mudd
Talosians
Trelane
Gary Mitchell

The good money is on either Gary Mitchell or Trelane. Although Shatner as Harry Mudd would kick ass.

Khan would've been distinguished mentally-challenged and people who asked for him don't have a clue other than ST2 is their favorite of the films. The characters don't have any history yet - both the story and RL time that passed is what made him so awesome.

They would've just had to basically recreate the TOS episode where he's really smart and tries to take over the enterprise - ooh and maybe it can be topical by dealing with the aftermath of those eugenics wars that happened over a decade ago. Lest we forget.

I didn't know anyone considered it to be one of the greatest movies ever made.  I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that except in that shitty movie 500 Days of Summer.

No way it will be Harry Mudd. He would just be a subplot or something.  :lol A big summer blockbuster about a space crew fighting a space pimp? Not happening.

I say it will be Gary Mitchell. If it was Trelane they would make him a Q (which I believe was retconned that he was indeed a Q wasn't it?), his original incarnation was too silly to work.

and that doesn't stop it from being highly influential in modern movies, hence why it might be on those lists.  So I'm not sure what we're arguing about.  Either way, I agree it's highly overrated.  The only scene that I thought was amazing was when he tells Elaine he's banging his mom.  And that was less than 30 seconds long :lol

Actually I referred to it as to show that some people do consider it one of the greatest films of all time, not to show its influence. Cause in the end I take a list that ranks by quality over a list that ranks by influence.

Well then you take it wrong, AFI's pretty well-known for ranking films based on their influence in the industry.

I haven't heard a lot of praise for The Graduate outside the internet, and I found it to be a fantastic movie. It was randomly recommended to me and I hadn't ever heard of it before, and I really enjoyed it. Whatever.

Hey, what if Darren Aronofsky isn't doing Wolverine at all, instead, he's tackling some other movie entirely that sounds almost too badical to be true.
Quote from: holy crap, really!  Wow, this is way better then Wolverine 2
The Tiger is an adaptation of John Vaillant's non-fiction book about a game warden who must protect a Siberian town when a tiger begins attacking its inhabitants, with Brad Pitt attached to star - but there's a bit more!

In a new interview with Guillermo Arriaga, who's adapting The Tiger for Aronofsky, the writer said that the film will shoot next year and that, apparently, Angelina Jolie will star along with her partner Brad Pitt. Huh? This is the first time we've ever heard it and considering how popular Jolie is, we usually know if she's interested in something, but I guess not. Arriaga also says he's traveling to New York a lot (where Aronofsky is based) and "would be doing a tour of Siberia to check locations" in November. So if we're to believe every word he says (and none of it was lost in translation), this may be the very next feature film for Aronofsky.

Hell, I could get financing to direct that movie with that lineup.  Forget for a moment that The Ghost and the Darkness isn't that great, this sounds just llike it but way better.  Give a cameo to Val Kilmer as tiger food, he could use the work.

Somehow I doubt Brad and Angelina are really burning to go on holiday in Siberia together. And get eaten by tigers.

Sixteen Candles had tits, I dont think Breakfast Club had any nudity. Honestly though, Sixteen Candles I find to be far more enjoyable. And it has nothing to do with the fact I was named after a character from it.

That pretty much fits every John Hughes movie for me now. I have seen them all so many times growing up (though I think that fits basically everyone around our age) that they start to bore me.

I in a way feel bad for marvel. They have obsessively built up to The Avengers but it is going to be completely overshadowed by Nolan's The Dark Knight Rising that summer. Although they are pitting a amateur like Joss Whedon against Christopher Nolan. They have to know it's a lost cause already.

Hey, both Goldeneye and Casino Royale were great films if you just looked at the directing. Edge of Darkness wasn't half bad for a movie that took an entire television series and condensed it.

I agree. As some other people have been wondering about the possibility of a 4th Batman movie from Nolan... I think this one should have been something different and then the 4th one should be called The Dark Knight Returns. With old Batman and shit.

But all of this is just silly talk of course. Let's first see this upcoming movie before judging it and making wild speculations about the future of these movies.

Martin Campbell made the only two half-decent Bond movies in two decades.  He established the last two new Bond actors before others came along and shitted things up.  Hopefully for the next Bond, he can come back for Tom Hardy's debut as the character.  Or just let Nolan do it.

Though, I'll admit that the guy doing Captain America has a bunch of bad movies that I happened to enjoy like The Rocketeer.

as for the Batman title, I think three movies are enough.  Basically, all three together will probably define the Batman character that we're used to.  I mean, in The Dark Knight he is still kinda wishy-washy about things.  He was all trying to get Harvey to be Gotham's hero because he wanted to bang Rachael, and then he was doing shit like the cellphone surveillance thing and hanging out with the cops.  Also, the next movie is when the Batcave will actually be the Batcave that people think of, probably.

it should end with someone telling Batman that the Joker escaped and that Batman needs to go fuck him up.  The beginnings of the cycle and all that.
