Samsara
Nobody does it like Ron Fricke. If you've seen any of this previous works [Chronos and Baraka], then you know what to expect. It is a dazzling display of the dichotomies that make up our world: creation and destruction, life and death, beauty and ugliness, past and present, and so on. And it's handled with a deft hand by a veteran photographer that knows exactly what he wants out of every scene, even though he's mostly just capturing the world around him. It's really too bad that Godfrey Reggio went off the deep end with Naqoyqatsi back in 2002 and hasn't come back yet, because these two guys need to be competing with each other.
