Since they're messing with timelines, who knows at which point things are all "corrected"?

A giant cup of "who gives a fuck" would also be appropriate. Write X4 out of everything, ever. Movie was a colossal waste.

You have a problem with that and not a shapeshifter smurf, a hot chick with white hair that fries toad-people with lightning, or indeed a man with metal kitty claws that got shot in the head and walked it off like it was nothing?

Laugh at comics all you want but they practically are Hollywood these days.

You mean X3.

And the "future" timeline will likely be "corrected." Instead of some war with sentinels that's basically killed all the mutants, it'll be "just as they should be" with the status quo restored to like when X2 started. Or maybe Jean will stay dead. But I'm pretty sure Cyke will be back.

This will let them make movies in both timelines going forward. It's pretty brilliant.

I'm sure you already know the difference between your examples and what I found funny.  If you don't, you should try and figure it out.  Distinctions like these are essential in not overvaluing day-glo scifi turds set to Daft Punk music, for example.

::) I don't have a problem with it, because that's the universe. I might have had a problem with it if it were just that one bonus scene, but Xavier even talks about the moral implications of doing such a thing earlier in the movie. As much as I absolutely loathe X3, at least it gave Xavier a way back in. (Cyke wasn't so lucky, but timey shenanigans should fix that.)

There's a lot of bad things.

Professer X being a douche.
Hey where the hell is Angel?
FOR YOU! FOR YOU JEAN!
Magneto leaving Mystique. "I guess I'm an unsympathetic ass".
That's Psylocke?
I'm Rogue! Fuck my character development!
I guess they weren't going to do cosmic stuff, but the general Phoneix story sucked.

I mean the movie is kind of bad and it was all about Wolvie needing to learn to be a team player again.

The only bad part of First Class was the "Mutant and proud!" shit.

Otherwise it was pretty fantastic. Fass gets props as Magneto, but I thought McAvoy was even better as Xavier. And of course, fucking Kevin Bacon mang. :aah

The Wolverine was also pretty good.

Both take huge steamy dumps on Man of Steel.

Really?  Every scene with the b-tier mutants is terrible, every single second January Jones was on the screen was pure agony, the end scene is a big silly mess.  Really aside from a fe parts with Fassbender the movie is terrible.  That director sucks though so it isn't a surprise.

Typical GAF Bore hyperbole. The b-tier mutants were fine. Actually I barely remember they're there, all I remember is Beast trying to smang someone while turning into Beast. They didn't stick out, not good or bad, just there. It's a failing of the movie, sure, but not enough to make the entire thing terrible.

Movie had a fantastic sense of pacing, action, and just.. fun. The jokes were usually on-point, and the fanservice was never at the forefront but still appreciated (Jawrence turning into Rebecca Romijn, Wolverine: "Go fuck yourselves.") "Getting the band together" and setting up Xavier's mansion in such a prequelly way was terrific fun that really reminded me of Bruce putting together the Batsuit and Batcave in Begins (aka, the best part of Nolan's Bat-trilogy.)

The ending worked as an action piece for the climax, but the splitup that came after it and crippling of Xavier was a little messy. That said, it had one of the best moments in any of the X films: Magneto pushing the Nazi coin through Kevin Bacon's head while he's being controlled by Xavier. It's amazing and painful to watch and is a believable end for their bromance even after the entire movie beforehand.

What sucked about First Class is that they split Magneto and Charles already. He could have still killed Shaw, but it shouldn't have broken the camels back. Just the first crack that would run through this series. Thier friendship just started and it could have been longer. Though I think even in the comics thier friendship isn't that long. Plus continuity is messed up with X-Men 3 again!

That said.

Man of Steel was pretty awesome, IMO. Easily better than any X-Men related film aside from (possibly) X2, and even then it's close. Better than any Spiderman, or really any Marvel film except The Avengers and Iron Man 1.
Agreed.  I liked Man of Steel.  It was what I wanted from a Superman movie.  I don't give a fuck about how many civilians died and why Superman didn't give a shit.  First Class is pretty damn forgettable.  I don't remember it being awful.  I just didn't have it in me to give a fuck.

Man Of Steel was great. The bad parts were Lois Lane and every Kid Clark/Kevin Costner scene. Henry Cavill was a good Superman, Zod was a great villain, it had an interesting take on the Superman mythos and the action was some of the best I've ever seen. It's a solid 8/10 blockbuster in my book.

It's funny to me how everyone who bitched about the city being destroyed and dead civilians never pointed out the same with Avengers. In Man Of Steel Superman was indisposed of by Zod when that shit started happening, when he came back he stopped it and killed Zod thus saving the day. Oh no why do people die against an army of people like Superman? No one should die in superhero movies unless it's a big scene with a funeral taking up a lot of time in a goddamn action blockbuster.

yeah, it's a weird criticism.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
at one point Superman flies Zod into orbit to move the fight away from the city.  Zod throws a fucking satellite at him.  Superman catches it and tries stop it from falling.  Zod busts through it and dive bombs Superman back to Metropolis.  (just don't ask about how they went space and back and arrived in the same location).  Movie goes out of its way to say that Superman is a wuss with superpowers.  jesus, his first fight was at 33!

What I do agree with is that Superman should've killed Zod when he started saying stuff like "I'M GOING TO KILL EVERYONE" and "I DIE OR YOU DIE."  I guess Superman wanted to knock him out and put him in jail...in a world where he's the strongest and has no weaknesses.

Looking forward to Batman vs Superman.  The older Batman is described as "tired and weary" in it.  It's going to be the How Stella Got Her Groove Back of superhero movies :whoo

Would have been easier to overlook some of the stuff in MoS if they didn't make such a huge deal of stuff and then contradicted it.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Superman has to kill Zod before Zod can laser-eye a family, and cries cause of it, and this is AFTER a zillion people have died.

Also, the "theme" of the movie is Clark's been trained to hide until people are ready to deal with his existence, then decides it'll be peachy after the world's been introduced to kyrptonians by having them almost successfully commit worldwide genocide.  Brilliant!

Plus there's the lingering Christ pose as he floats away from the spaceship, the waste of Lois Lane as a character, etc.  The fight scenes were well done technically, and I appreciated how the girl moved like a character in a 2D fighter, but I just didn't have fun watching the movie.

Pretty much, from what I've seen. Granted I hate Nolan GAF, and they're still butthurt over my TDK trolling ("Harvey Dent died for your sins") but overall I don't dislike Nolan. He's a very good director and has made some great movies.

But Batman Begins is basically a superhero movie without a superhero or villain, because Bale sucks as Batman and whoever-was-the-villain sucks too. TDK is carried by The Joker but is overall a very good action movie. And while the Dent stuff at the end is distinguished mentally-challenged, I like the cheesy lil ending. Gives me goosebumps.

TDKR...I've seen it twice, it sucks. Incomprehensible, stupid, boring, Bane isn't that interesting, Catwoman is meh, her little prostitute friend doesn't get enough camera time, Tim Blake is a boob, the Bane/League Of Shadows reveal is cool...what else. Oh yea, dragging a megaton nuclear bomb through the streets of Gotham, then flying it away in 20 seconds...REALISM. Where's the nuclear fallout?
