Jared Leto was a great casting choice for the Joker, of that I've never had any doubt.

My enthusiasm started to wane when pics started hitting though. Grill + tattoos? Sorry, but I'm out.

I rewatched Constantine recently. The movie is dripping in early aught cheese. But the last 20 minutes or so are so good. Tilda Swinton and Peter Stormare make that movie.

My expectations for the Leto Joker would look like an inverted bell curve. I was excited at first, then it dropped like a tank when I saw the early images, now it's back up after actually seeing him play the role. I think he makes it work.

"Sexy" Harley never made any fucking sense to me. I get why they did it (for 13-year old boys to jack off over and thus sell more comics), but it feels against everything I think about the character.

I didn't think that BTAS version looked sexy at all. Ivy, Catwoman? Sure, sexy. But there's no way you'll convince me those doofy jester cones were hot in the slightest.

In fact the BTAS version didn't show her skin aside from her face (and even then here eyes were covered.)

NEW GODZILLA looks really great. A return to form for the biggest green monster. At least it looks like a Godzilla movie. That Brian Cranston snorefest was just lame.

the only thing that worries me is that Toho (and Japan's film industry in general) tends to self-sabotage whenever they try to make something with international appeal. They've got a great opportunity here and so far things look very promising, but I'm still expecting them to drop the ball somehow.

Yes, yes he did.

More/most importantly he got Shinji Higuchi to co-direct with him, he was the SFX supervisor for the (effing awesome) 90's Gamera films and has since been a go to guy for bigger budget Japanese films that do spectacle well but generally suck at other things (although he's not without a sense of humor). At the very least, this new Godzilla film is pretty much guaranteed to contain some high quality monster engendered destruction because of him.
