I know Germany's a master of commerce NOW, I'm referring to whole post-WWI "3 billion marks for a loaf of bread" period.

Instead of midnight openings, we will all be standing in line for BREAD

BREAD

Filling your stomach SPRING 2009.

Preorder it at your local GAMESTOP

Should I get a Flavor Warranty or the official eating guide?

With Americans sad and hungry, Willco's meth business will be taking off. And, after working at Gamestop, he should be used to dealing with unruly, desperate, pale, emaciated addicts trying to score their next fixes.

About as good as when I saw an ad talking about an institution with over 140 years of experience right after 150+ year old Lehman Brothers failed.

Someone on CNBC just said that a representative from Wisconsin said that constituents from his district opposed the bill by 100-1, which is why he voted against it, along with a folksy quote like "I work for the folks on Main St., not Wall St.". Don't these yokels realize that their 401k's and pensions are directly affected by stock prices?

In b4, "I'm in mutual funds, not stocks". lol

now that we have some distance (like an hour) from the failout, it really kind of signifies the end of the Republican party as a coherent force in American politics...right?

A Republican President is unable to get the Republican members of the House to vote for a bipartisan, necessary financial proposal. McCain has somehow cast himself in opposition to Bush AND Congress, fighting his own party on two fronts. The result is total political gridlock and the largest one-day financial hit in our country's history. There's NO WAY to spin this as the Democrats' fault. They came out voting for the proposal!

Uh, Patel, you are so stupid.  Did you not hear the McCain talking points memo.

McCain did his bipartisan, President-like duty by reaching across the aisle and getting Democrats to vote for the bailout.  But Obama failed to live up to his end of the bargain by getting House Republicans to vote for the bill.  Typical, partisan Obama!

The day's loss knocked out approximately $1.2 trillion in market value, the first post-$1 trillion day ever, according to a drop in the Dow Jones Wilshire 5000, the broadest measure of the stock market.

... That's more than $700 billion!

Quote
Unbelievable. Wall Street and its backers created this mess and now they are going to clean up like bandits. . . .
When you screw up in life, there is hell to pay. Each and every one of you reading this knows that basic lesson and has paid the consequences of your actions at some point. In this great democracy, we cannot let there be one set of rules for the vast majority of hard-working citizens, and another set of rules for the elite, who, when they screw up, are handed one more gift on a silver platter. No more! Not again!
